Football Transfers Thread

Who the hell would want image rights to an ugly bugger like him?!

Not going ahead, Fa won't let it despite the fact they let Mascherano go to Liverpool but its hardly the first time the rules have been bent for them

There's rules for everyone. And then there's the special rules that let Liverpool do everything.

If we're paying 40 million for him i'm not upset if we don't get him considering he's not exactly the type of striker we need imo but i guess fergie knows more, then again i wouldn't have bought Djemba-Djemba

Whether or not we're getting him hasn't been decided yet. As far as I'm aware, as long as the deal is done between the clubs without a third party, then it'll go through. As long as the Hammers get all of the transfer fee, in other words.

He'd be a fantastic signing...:upray

Yeah great signings imo, especially Borrowdale, I am not a fan of Marcus Hall so we have a very good replacement there! :)
I think getting a few old heads in is a good thing, the younger players can learn from them and they have experience.

I too am looking forward to this season, I can see us being quite good this year.

My City lineup:
--------------------Marshall--------------------
--McNamee----De Zeeuw---Ward----Borrowdale-
--------------------Osbourne-------------------
--Cairo----------------------------------Tabb--
--------------------Thornton--------------------
---------------Mifsud ------ Best---------------

Subs - Konstantopoulos, Giddings, Hawkins, Doyle, Adebola

Looks quite strong to me :) Especially at the back.

What about Hughesey? Stephen that is, as we have just signed another Hughes, Mark. Another golden Oldie! I suppose any International is good enough for Cov! :p
Great work from Dowie, we have finally appointed a good manager that is passionate aboutr any job he works in.
With all of these signings, the takeover can't be too far away!
Hearings from my Dads friend Steve that we are trying to get Pascal Chimbonda permanent and a loan for a season of Tom Huddlestone from Spurs!!!
That would be great, swap McNamee for Chimbonda and Huddlestone instead of Osbourne (although Osbourne is great too).

My Lineup:
--------------------Marshall--------------------
--Chimbonda----De Zeeuw---Ward----Borrowdale-
--------------------Huddlestone-------------------
--Cairo----------------------------------Tabb--
--------------------Thornton--------------------
---------------Mifsud ------ Best---------------

Subs:
Subs - S.Hughes or Dimi Konstantopoulos, M.Hughes, Hawkins, Doyle, Osbourne

Lightning front two, Mifsud and Best EXTREMELY quick.

I love michael doyle :(
He would be a fantastic signing for any other championship team.

No mate, he was solid last season (in more ways than one :p) or else why did everyone want him to stay when that incident happened?
Just because he doesn't score many goals oesn't mean he's useless. Great player is ol' doyler! :D

I think Thornton fits that criteria. He looks fantastic and very young too, when he gets to about 25-28 he will have a perfect mind for the game.

And Tabb and Cairo on the wings. They are both young too, I keep going on about the oldies but Our forwards (Mifsud, Best) are quite young (Best more than Mifsud) and our midfield (Tabb, Cairo, Osbourne, Thornton) are all young, and our defence (Ward, De Zeeuw, Borrowdale, McNamee) are young too bar De Zeeuw and McNamee).
Man Every day gets better, cov are getting busy, and Mark Hughes has an experienced head on his shoulders at 35, we proved we could make an oldie score goals a couple of seasons a go with Dennis Wise.

Of course you know that Mascherano is only on loan at Liverpool this is entirely different to purchasing a player. West Ham have said that they have cut ties with the "third party" owner but if said third party receives money from the Tevez transfer then they haven't severed their ties have they. I would expect the same rules will apply when and if Liverpool make the deal permanent.

Liverpool do get away with everything, they were even allowed to play Champions League football 2 seasons ago even though they weren't good enough to get in the top four, they just moan and moan until they get it their way, and I'm bored of them too, hey have no players that are good to watch.

Cairo is 28, so he isn't that young and McNamee is 27.

I hope this bloody takeover happens, taking forever!

Yes but 28 is still young, Cairo has about 7 seasons left in him.
