Dennis Amiss - The man who scored the World Cup's first ever century against India in a match that has now become infamous for Sunil Gavaskar's unbeaten 36 off 174 balls. He was perhaps the first great opening batsman in ODI cricket, scoring 859 runs at an average of 47.72 from 18 matches between 1972 and 1977. The inaugural 1975 tournament, where he scored 243 runs at an average of 60.75 from 4 matches whilst maintaining an excellent strike rate of above 84 (which was stratospheric by the 70s standards) was to be his one and only appearance at cricket's biggest event.
Allan Lamb - One of England's finest cricketers in the ODI arena who generally saved his best performances for World Cups where he scored 656 runs at an average of 50.46 and strike rate of above 84 from 19 matches between 1983 and 1992. His aggressive batting in the middle-order was one of the key reasons behind England excelling at ODI cricket for much part of the 1980s - first making a semi-final appearance in 1983 and then narrowly missing out on the World Cup trophy to arch-rivals Australia in 1987. Among his notable innings in the World Cup were a century on his first appearance against New Zealand in 1983, a brutal 58-ball 76 against Sri Lanka in 1987. But his unbeaten 67 off 68 balls against two-time World Cup winners West Indies in 1987, which took England to victory despite them needing 91 runs off their last 10 overs will probably go down as his greatest ever innings in the tournament.

With cricket officially returning to the Commonweath Games for the first time since 1998 in the form of Women's T20Is thanks to the cowards at the ICC who somehow excluded the men altogether, I reckoned it the best time to do a sequel to my 2014 Cricket at the Commonwealth Games in the Men's 50-over format. A total of 16 nations have come forward to participate although many noticeably without some of their leading cricketers as a result of bubble fatigue and international cricket's gruelling schedule with two marquee tournaments coming up in the next 1-year period in the form of the 2022 T20 World Cup and the 2023 Men's 50-over World Cup. Eight years is a bloody long time, but lets see if I still have some of that old spark up my sleeve.

Squads have been selected as realistically as possible taking into account real life injuries, recent retirements, game time since last appearance, format preferences, performances, playing conditions, experience in those conditions and cannot be altered under normal circumstances. Still, if you desperately want an unpicked/obscure, uninjured/unretired player or two or more added in place of some of the selected, you'll have to make your case via PM to me.
And if you can, please sign up with 2 teams apiece seeing as its rather unlikely we'll get 16 different managers. Only one top nine team (Barbados, Jamaica, T&tT in place of the West Indies) as per the ICC ODI rankings of July 2022 allowed per member.
