Are you a batsmen or a bowler or an AR. How well do you rate yourself? Do you still play as a cricketer?

I played right through primary school, the trouble was I got a job in retail as soon as I could which meant I worked Saturdays.

I was a bowler. I was a PITA batsmen to get out, I could block em like anyone but could not score runs for the life of me. If I went in with 6 to get off 3 overs you wouldn't back me.

I'm now umpiring during the season so don't play except casual games type thing, best for everyone!

Do you get angry quickly?
No. I'm incredibly placid and calm. It takes alot to make me truely angry, However when I do snap it isn't pretty for the other person. It doesn't mean I take everything on the chin, I can be assertive, conciliatory when needed etc. But I have a thick skin :)

Do you like traveling?
I like the idea of traveling. However with my height it's not the most comfortable experience. The wife and I actually made the decision to travel later in life than before kids etc

Sorry, forgot this.
If you mean the ability to change one rule and allow tweaks to get it working properly, then I would remove the lbw requirements of pitching and striking inline. If you don't hit it, it hits your pads and it would have hit the stumps then it should be out.

The other one is I would remove the front foot noball law and revert back to the old back foot rule. It would save alot of quicks from injury and life better for umpires.

Yeah agree with both of these especially the lbw rule :thumbs

Ever had an altercation with someone who didn't respect a decision you made on the field? If so, what was the nature of it?

It depends what you mean by altercation. Never anything physical. Of course Ive had a few dissatisfied batsmen when I've given people out and bowlers when not out etc.

Ive only made 1 report which was a batsmen who I gave out LBW, he wasn't happy with the decision and left the field via my position at the bowlers end and said 'You @#€@ idiot ... that was going down leg'. It was cold and calculated, I was nowhere near the path he should have taken and aimed at me in such a way it could be heard over the boundary. He got 2 matches and 2 suspended for it.

I also have a reputation as an approachable umpire who is happy to have a chat about things, I'm more than happy to have a chat with players at a suitable time and I'll explain why I did whatever it was. They may still not agree, but I think it helps.

Have you ever been bribed to give wrong decisions? :D

What's your favorite Indian food?
Do you eat spicy?
Outside Indian Food, what is your second favorite cuisine?
Which is your favorite - beer or coffee?
Are you a console or PC gamer?

Nope, nothing even close.

My absolute favourite is a Chicken Tikka Khandari. Saag is nice too. Love a good Naan but can't seem to make it well at home. I seriously wonder if it's time to get a tandoori oven...

I don't mind spicy, spicy for the sake of it annoys me but spicy that works for the flavours and all that, sure!

Coffee over beer but only drink Iced Coffee, save the occasional mocha if social circumstance says I have to have something like that. Love my wine and whisky tho (not in an alcoholic way)

PC all the way. Owned a NES, SNES and PS1 but not a console since!

Why have you edited many of your posts when you changed your username to Fake Passport with "Removed"?

I was doxxed, people who I didn't want to know managed to work out who I am based on my posts (and my nick of the time). It was serious enough that I had to take drastic action, including changing my username.

I'm slowly going back through and putting stuff back in with necessary stuff redacted/altered etc. I should probably pick up the pace with that.

Some more :p

  • Do you believe in Aliens or extra terrestrial life? What will you be your first word if you happen to meet one?
  • After cricket, what is your second sport that you follow?
  • If you get contract from WWE to be a referee, will you take it over being umpire in cricket? Or WWE is not your cup of tea?
  • Have you ever been biased at least in one decision from your umpire experience - like, given benefits of doubt to a player because you like him personally?

Depends what you mean re the aliens. Even the size of the known universe indicates that there would be life purely on the numbers. In my head I seem to recall a stat that if chance of life is 1 in a billion, then there's a billion planets out there in what we just know. So I believe that life does exist elsewhere and I kinda think it's self centred not to in alot of ways, but that is far removed from little Grey Aliens crashing at Roswell...

I'd like to think I'd say something profound, I'd probably be scared out of mind tho.

Cricket is the main one, I have a passing interest in baseball and basketball but that's about it.

I think the WWE you need to much acting ability that I'd be useless at it. WWE is better off without me :)

Not as far as I can remember on any wicket or decision that impacted the scorebook. Depending what I'm umpiring I'll do things like suggest that thr keeper stop encroaching and all those other little, almost coaching, type things we do and there what I do can be influenced by how a player or team reacts, but that wouldnt stop me giving them out or not out.

Truthfully sometimes you have to stop yourself being biased based on the pitch. It's easy to go to a game and think everything will bounce over (or not) but you have to call it as you see it...
