FTP: From the Pavilion general chat

Good old Tindall :p

I lost my match by 5 runs, Mol starring with the bat with 71 off 54, as we made 186 in reply to their 191.

Yes I thought you'd be happy :p

Iridium, you should probably increase your ground size. You're missing out on potential income because of the small size of your ground. If you sell out a T20 you'll definitely sell out a SOD

And I might be a Netherlands U19 Assistant sometime :p

Burgers asked me if I was interested since one of the current assistants was stepping down.

I think this is only the second time I've filled up a T20. What should I increase it to? 10k?

If you increase to 10k you might struggle to fill it. But the only other amount you'd increase it to would be 9k and an extra 1k in maintenance a week isn't really much.

And you could possibly fill it actually, since you'll only be in division 4 for two of your leagues.

So yea 10k

Changing my ground size to 10k will add $3k to maintenance costs. I sold off two players last week so I'll be paying less than I did with those two still on my roster.

I've just signed up for this. Seems to be quite good, from the management side of things. Quite interesting.

On the player page, what does it mean when his Talent is 'Skilled (Technique)' . Can't tell if he is a bowler/batsman etc. :p

To tell if someone is a batsman or bowler look at their primary skills down the bottom.

Skilled (Technique) just means they get a bonus in technique during matches. For some reason, in FTP, technique covers both bowling and batting technique

I'd recommend scouting the transfer market for players who are reliable batting or bowling and reliable technique or higher that are selling for less than 10k. The senior squad you get given is pretty terrible when you start off.

Thanks for the tip. Haven't looked at the transfer market in great detail yet. Trying to improve/establish an infrastructure to the maintenance of the club before I start looking for new talent.

Well firstly probably a couple of tips.

Don't invest too much in academies early on. It is just easier to pick up cheap players off the transfer market that don't need much training.

I wouldn't upgrade your ground until you've filled it out a fair few times (pretty obvious)

Set out all your players training so they can improve.

Try to buy a couple of good players early on so you have a chance at earning some decent prize money by the end of the season (I wouldn't worry about youth just yet). Then fire some of your dead wood.

On the transfer market, I'd be looking for players with the following skills.

Batting/Bowling: Reliable (Try to pick up a couple of Accomplished players as well
Tech: Reliable (Try not to get technique more than 1 level below primary but Reliable/Reliable players barely cost anything, provided they are over 19.
Endurance: Average/Reasonable (Mainly depends on age, I guess. Try to get average at least but endurance barely affects price between Average and Reliable so I wouldn't worry)
Fielding: This is where your opinions come into it. Some people like Chewie, like all their players to have Reliable fielding, while others like myself don't mind fielding provided it's average or above.
Power: Again, up to you. Normally ordinary power is good enough to start off with, but I'd be looking at average.
Experience: Doesn't matter much but does play a fairly big role so if you can manage to pick a player up with Reliable+ experience, then it is a big bonus.

And a note about power, spinners don't need power so there is no need to train it. On pace bowlers, batsman and all-rounders, power plays an important part.
