Weird way of wishing Kohli! Best wishes to them and hope for the good health of all!

Also hope the parents don't bring the boy to the stadium and start crying about privacy, like last time round.

Born in UK or USA? They get the first dibs on his citizenship, right?

News is that the kid was born in London, but UK does not have birthright citizenship unless atleast one of the parents is a British citizen. I doubt if either Kohli or Anushka are British citizens.

The largest Caribbean island doesn't have a franchise? Lots of things still going wrong in WICB, the govt reluctance to support the franchisee is quite baffling. What is more surprising is the fact that the owner Kris Persaud had to sell the original franchise back to the CPL and then buy Antigua. Why could he simply not switch for a fee?

Jamaican government as a whole has been taking a big step back from backing cricket, they didn’t even apply to be a host for the upcoming WC. This isn’t really the WICB’s fault.

Yes, you are right. The UK doesn't have birthright citizenship, unless Anushka/ Virat were one. not sure about Anushka, but Virat certainly doesn't seem to be a British Citizen. Had the kid been born in the States, he would have become an US citizen.

Grass-roots development should be on the WICB, right? Or creation of school-specific programs/ other activities that might get people interested in the sport should be the onus of the WICB. I get if the franchise wasn't doing well over the years, but the Tallawahs have been league winners. Govt interference can be accepted in cases of match fixing etc, but there hasn't been a documented case of any such activity.
