General Cricket Discussion

Could be a good move if it works out, as cricket is somewhat popular in Canada.
This definitely the right direction for Canada cricket. The fact that WI players are going to be apart of this is great to see as our boys can gain some experience form those guys. If there are cricket locally, it might attract some of the white Canadian folk that don't know much about cricket. The introduction to cricket is pretty good, it is slowly being introduced in elementary schools and high schools as part of physical activity. The games that can held in the Toronto area can encourage kids to play in leagues and what not. People are very interested and keen about cricket, and many have enjoyed after first playing the game. Don't forget, there is lots of Desi people here as well :)- so it is a good financial thing for Cricket Canada. For me, I can't wait to see my first cricket match with high profile players in it, excited for this.

This XI is the best Cricket team in the world.

So wished that the ICC allowed cricket to grow. With this stupid agenda of only playing 10 sides, ICC is only damaging the global reach of the tournament.
You have to understand why ICC is doig this. Sure you get one upset for a turnamont but mostly its not competitive cricket with associate teams. And that will harm ICC financially. So there are 2 sides to this problem

Actually there is only one side to the problem. The ICC are terrified of having another world cup where India get knocked out early. The new format gives India a guaranteed nine games to play. Money, money, money. Sadly that's the only side.

Well am not a India and i can agree with you. But what option do ICC have honestly. Without money how would cricket carry on.

In the last format used, India got a guaranteed 6 matches, and didn't risk getting knocked out by one loss. What was wrong with that?

Am not arguing with you on that. And as a former cricketer my self i would love to see more teams my self. But dont you think other then India going out from the first round conspiracy, its a problem to have too many one sided games in a world cup. Lets face it guys, its not like football or rugby like whatever happens its over in 2 hours . The match gose on and on for one full day. And financially i think icc dont really have a choice

9 games make more than 6. I mean ICC fully admitted to fixing the schedule so that Pakistan and India constantly have ODI matches together by being in the same group. I wouldn't care if some of the money raised went towards helping associate sides but it gets fed back to the top 3 boards.

How can they expand it more ? Look how poor Zimbabwe are doing right now. The ICC can't afford to carry a whole bunch of teams.
LOL! They are much better than West Indies and at par with Sri Lanka. This is just a bullshit reason for reducing number of teams.

This too.
