General Questions Thread

Okay. I have a problem on what pitch to pick. My opening bowlers always get smashed and sometimes my other bowlers contain the batsmen. My batsmen hardly make or post good scores so the question is - what pitch type should I use? Something that gives my bowlers a chance but my batsmen can make good scores on it. What would you recommend?
If you can get some containment, then it's probably best not to take any more away from the opening bowlers. However, if you can't make 200+ at all, it's not really going to matter until your batting is assured. It sounds like you're still very noob and your players are still coming into full form and fitness. Make sure you get plenty of Friendlies against reasonable opposition, such as those on the noobs list, eg.

Also keep an eye on the transfer market, if you lack strength, you should be able to find plenty of useful players for under 20,000 each.

You could probably get a load of help if you post the attributes of your best players.

I am bidding (currently) 12,000 on a comptent spinner with mediocre stamina who is 17 years old. Is he worth it?

Ok I will just post my squad so you (or someone else) can analyse it.

You only really have one star batting in that lot rest are pretty average.
IMO go for a spinners pitch, if you can't find a 3rd spinner then a bowling lineup of Brashaw, Dixon Mcleod, Shackell + new spinner.

Which I take it is Lampard?

So you are saying I should open with Bradshaw?

Probably go for Dixon if you are using the default bowling as he has slightly better stamina. Bradshaw can be the 2nd new ball bowler. Unless you have quicks that have done well for you.

first of all, cut down on your trainees.. Giving a 17 year old 5 nets will get him farther faster than if you give him only 2 nets. Secondly, tell us what the trainees are (i.e. bowler, batsman, wicket keeper, etc.

It may be a silly doubt i need to ask this :D

i.e, If a player is given 4-5 nets, wont he suffer from stamina or some fitness probs becos i remember reading in battrick not to train hard as he will become tired in match :what

Yea, his PFL will go down. But don't worry, it increases over the week, although you may want to rest a player recieving 5 nets on Fridays...

Well he bats at 3 and I usually use him as a first change or 5th bowler. And I am also trying out a dusty wicket for tommorow's friendly - Hopefully it is ready by then.

Oh ok you probably need a few component batsmen with good concentration. Bradshaw could be handy for the lower order as being a fast man he should be opening the bowling.

To be honest Stolz and Basson do a pretty good job opening the batting. Basson has an avearge of 44.17

Should I bid for this player? Would increase my spinning weaponery.

Rob Bowler (1142773)
RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, fresh
A defensive player with strong leadership skills and worthless experience.

Plays For: PoppyCock CC
Nationality: Australia
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 3,803
Wages: ?599 p/w

Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: worthless Concentration: abysmal
Bowling: competent Consistency: mediocre
Fielding: worthless

It was more so you could move Bradshaw down the order.
Rob is better than my 3 spinners so wouldn't be too bad.

I am bidding 2000 for Robert.

And what are you talking about with Bradshaw - batting or bowling?

I am looking for a good keeper as I am playing Rampaul as Keeper everytime whose stamina is woeful now.

My doubt is, does the fielding attribute plays any role for keeper?
