General Questions Thread

Depends on what type your pace bowlers are, how good each bowler is.. how good your batsmen are and what you want to achieve

Depends if they are your best bowlers or not. If they are both in your top 3 I say yes.

Follow Stes advice on spinners lol... he is somewhat of an expert

My pitch choices are often to counter the other teams bowling strength, i rarely keep the same pitch for two weeks

Now I normally play on a green pitch due to my best bowler being a medium pacer. However I am thinking of buying this player:

Ryan Person (1939072)

RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, strong batting form, feeble bowling form, invigorated fitness.
A cautious player with mediocre leadership skills and woeful experience.

Plays For: Kingfield
Nationality: New Zealand
Age: 18 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 9,173
Wages: ?1,301 p/w

Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: respectable
Batting: feeble Concentration: abysmal
Bowling: respectable Consistency: respectable
Fielding: abysmal

Now my question is. If I buy him, should I stick with 2 spinners and 3 pace bowlers, or just rest 1 spinner. Or should I maybe switch to dusty instead of green? If I have to rest 1 spinner, which 1 should it be?

Lots of questions, have some answers.

If you buy the new guy, then you're bowling attack doesn't have to be fixed - you can pick 1 or 2 spinners based on PFL, pitch (if playing away) or opposition (if they've been destroyed by spinners the previous 2 weeks, for example, go with the spinner). All those being equal, I'd replace the 4th bowler in your list with the new guy as my first choice 5.

The second is trickier, I'lkl come back to that. If you had to pick 1 spinner (PFL being equal) I'd pick the new guy.

Your choice of pitch should be based on your batting/bowling strength and how they compare, the make up of your attack (what types and how many), which your best bowlers are, the opposition's bowling attack and possibly the weather. It's not something you can give a general answer to. I tend to leave mine on Hard and Fast because I can't be bothered to work these out every time - I only do it for close matches where I need every advantage I can get. If nothing else sways it and it comes down to your attack, you don't have anyone stand out as far better than the rest - I'd probably go for dusty, but only if you're oppostion's spinner isn't amazing! It's too complex to give a general answer too tbh.

Thanks for that, I think I pretty much understood that. I didn't buy him in the end because he went for more than I wanted, but I have my eye on a similar spinner so this is useful

As long as one is named Wotton i have no problem ste

3. Everett Hawkins - 26 yo, BT Rating=6,541

I am actually tempted to drop Belgrave over Hawkins. Hawkins performs for me time and again, while Belgrave has yet to make a big score.
