General Racing Games

Ah so rfactor and Eurendo Challenge are two different games?

Enduro Challenge is a mod for rFactor. :)

Both of them seem good and yeah I love simulations, is there like a in-depth season mode or anything?

rFactor is more about getting loads of mods and usually driving them online, mainly because the AI is crap ;). I drive in a league using rFactor where we are currently running Renault Megane Eurocup cars, BMW 320 E21's (1970's GT car), 1979 F1 cars and sports cars, which can be seen in my post with the screenshots (the first three pictures). That is the Enduro Challenge mod.

The league is www.simraceonline.com

Race 07 follows the 2007 FIA World Touring Car Championship and is completely seperate from rFactor.

Thanks for the information there ;)

I'm guessing I won't be able to pick this up in any of the local game stores?

Race 07 can be bought in stores but rFactor can't like most of the newer racing sims it gets downloaded and then you pay to unlock it.

You can buy rfactor in stores if you want to.

Just for Kev!! ;)

Graphics are nothing special whatsoever, if you wanna see some sweet graphics check out Forza 2, PGR 4 or some of the latest Gran Turismo 5 shots, GT5 looks simply amazing !!

But then that is a Mod someone has worked pretty hard on that. Also at least the cars handle more like real cars than they do in GT5, I take realism over pretty graphics anyday.

I'd agree, realism has to be the key to these types of game.

Forza Motorsports 2 is a pretty damn good game, the modification you can do to cars is great. Oh and some people can make some fantastic vynals for thier cars and sell them off!

It's not about graphics, its about gameplay because it's a sim and not a glossy arcade game.

I never said that it was all about graphics, i was just commenting on what looked like fairly generic graphics, i didn't know that the game was a mod, and tbh if it was the gameplay that is the big point, a video would have been more suitable ;). As for your point about it being a sim, Forza and GT are definetly simulations, and are made as realistic as possible, especially Forza. PGR is an arcade game though, a very very good one, but still an arcade based racer. I'm a big fan of racers, but i'm not brilliant at them, so the likes of PGR tend to be more fun for me, Forza and GT5 offer just the right challenge for me though, gotta love the next gen racers !!

I might add that my screenshots are taken in jpg and for some reason the screenshots never do the actual game justice. :p It's the same with all the PC racing games I've played. :( But admittedly, GT5 will look better!

Whilst the GT and Forza games have a greater learning curve and have a basic form of real physics modelling than your average console racer, they aren't in the same bracket as PC simulatons. They are dumbed down quite alot to appeal to the wider audience. Quite frankly, releasing a full blown simulation on a console would be suicide, it just wouldn't sell.

I never use to be able to get into PC gaming and always loved GT4 for being a "simulation", but then I got into PC racing games (GTR, Race 07 etc) and I realised actually how basic and dumbed down GT4 was. That's not to say you can't get enjoyment out of console driving games, hell I've had some great races with Forza 2 online, but it most certainly isn't in the same bracket as PC sims.

Haha, you're right. I'll improve though, only been playing it an hour or so, and the Clio doesnt handle corners. Was a little bit of an unfair race, Clio vs Ford GT. I'll give you it though, i was useless. I'll have pwn you once i get good and have a decently pimped lambo or something ;0

I didn't force you to pick that Clio! :p I'll play you in about 15 minutes. Come on msn mate.
