Greatest Opening Partnership of bowlers?

Dizzy used to bowl high 130's, low 140's when he was at his best. From what i've seen personally, that has defiantly been my favorite and probably the best. Great partnership.

Successful...yes, but according to footage I have seen, Garner could not have been faster than 80mph and got most of his wickets through batsmen being not used to his height, consequently, he would not succeed nearly as much these days and so the partnership was not 'great' since 'greatness' exceeds time barriers, in my opinion.
Old footage can be misleading. It's not necessarily running at natural speed and when taken from different angles, the observation is harder to compare. When the difference between 129 kph and 145 kph is only about 0.06 seconds from bowler to bat, there are a lot of factors. I know I've seen different footage of the same player that leaves a fair disparity.

I guess it is another trial and tribulation of comparing eras.

Yep Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie for me. From the late 90s until the 2005 ashes anyway.

McGrath and Dizzy from what I saw. Dizzy was a very deadly opening bowler, he should have had a lot more wickets but often because of his extra pace missed the edge of the bat. We all know about McGrath.

Thompson and Lillee would have to be up there, never saw them so can't comment.

I would have to say the Windies back in the 80's. Joel Garner and Curtley Ambrose. What a combination.

I was just about to say the exact same thing, luckily you typed it out so I didnt have to:D

Lindwall and Miller proved a good combination in the 40's.

Lillee and Thompson in the 70's among others.

I feel Lindwall and Miller who both had raw pace and swing against good players generally good players.
