ICC World T20 Finals: Pakistan Versus England - Overs 1 to 5

With 166 as the target, the two openers for Pakistan, Salman Butt and Kamran Akmal walked in with some nervousness in them as it was a final and there were a lot of expectations from these two. Kamran, as usual took the strike. Sidebottom was been given the new ball."Let's Play" said Rudi and then the action began!

Ryan bowled the first one short on the off side which is Kamran's favourite spot! He had cut that delivery seriously hard it flied over the head of the fielders and raced away to the boundary! It was a great way to get off the mark!Kamran and Salman both had a talk then.Next ball was another short one which was in the same spot but Kamran just missed that one.Third one went out for a flick down the leg side for a single.Salman had to face the fourth ball. Ryan again bowled a short one! But Butt just left it alone.RS was looking a bit predictable. So Salman pre-meditated to hook the 5th ball which led to a edge which flied high but was caught by Lumb! First wicket fell on 5 runs!So it was Umar Akmal at No. 3. The last ball was again a short one which was unnecessarily edged by Umar Akmal:( But what, Kieswetter and Kevin Pietersen were looking at each other and the ball passed between the wicketkeeper and the slip fielder for a boundary!
So after 1 over, the score was 9 for the loss of one wicket.Tim Bresnan was to ball the second over. This over wasnt as eventfull as theprevious one as there were 3 singles and a boundary off Umar's bat.Kamran was on 7* and Umar was on 9*.There was some positive cricket seen as there was a good selection of shots and good running too! Sixteen was the score on the board after 2.Third over was again balled by Sidebottom. He gave away 8 runs which included a six by Kamran and a two by him. Sidebottom's second over wasnt looking as predictable as his previous over as he had bowled mixture of slower ones n quickies in different line and lengths. The score was 24 with Kamran on 15 and Umar on 9.

Bresnan's fourth over was a very good one!Five dots of the first five and a boundary on the last one to Umar! Umar was struggling while playing the quick bouncers as he wasnt middling the ball properly. But a loose last ball was punished for 4.Umar's score moved to 13 and the teams score moved to 28 after 4 overs. The Akmal brothers had to make use of powerplay overs.28 in 4 was decent but while chasing a good total, maintaining a good rate was useful. And this over of Broad did it all!The first one was a good length one which was pulled for a six by Kamran! It was a good ball but brilliancy in this shot was the thing which gave Pakistan their first 6 of their innings.Next ball, four!Kamran coverdrived that one beautifully! Then a single was taken.Umar also tried to aggress a bit as he hit a boundary through the covers after 2 dots.15 came of that one! It was a great over which was a desperate need of the Pakistanis. So the score after 5 overs was 43.

Stay tuned for next 5!!

It was 43-1 after 5 as Akmal Brothers cruised along after a quick wicket of Salman Butt. Kamran was on 18* and Umar on 17*.This was the last over of powerplay and it was the time to capitalize but...

Captain Collingwood took the ball in his hands. Kamran took 2 off the first one. Second ball went for a single near mid wicket. As said earlier, Umar struggled with the short ball and this short one by Collingwood was a good one to make Umar walk back to the pavilion. He tried to play it on the back-foot but edged it to Kieswetter. The score was 46 for 2 with Umar out on 17.Mohammad Hafeez was the next man in but he didnt trouble the scorers as he was bowled for a golden duck! 46-3! Momentum suddenly shifted to England's side! It was Misbah who was in to bat. He played both the balls of C'wood safely. So the last over of powerplay went for 3 runs and 2 wickets!

Broad continued. Kamran didnt stop even after 2 huge wickets. He hit the first 2 balls for 4s.One over midwicket and the other over long on. The other four balls resulted in singles.Kamran's score moved to 31* and Misbah remained on 2* and the score was 58-3 in 7.Then the next over of Collingwood went for 5 runs in which Misbah scored 3 runs.Spinners were brought in a bit late as they bowled from the 9th over. The next 2 overs were bowled by Swann and Yardy respectively which were brilliant overs! Both the overs gave away 7 and 4 respectively. There were no boundaries. Kamran was on 39* and Misbah was on 11* and the score after 10 overs was 74 for 3. They needed 91 of the next 60 balls!

It was a tough task for Pakistanis from here and it became more tougher as Misbah was out in the 11th over bowled by Sidebottom. He was out on 11 itself. The ball came in and Misbah played on the wrong track and was LBW. Captain Shahid Afridi came in. He didnt start aggesively but flicked one for a run.Kamran played the next four and scored 4 runs in the form of a boundary and he brought his score to the 40s as he was 43*.

86 runs were required in 54 balls. One or the other had to fire. And no one better than Boom Boom would have done that. This over of Yardy went for 18 runs with 3 sixes on alternate balls by Afridi! So now it was 68 from 48 balls. Afridi on 19* and Kamran on 43*.
Swann was to bowl the 13th over. Under such a pressure situation there was some fun seen on the field.A Pigeon just ████ on Afridi's Helmet!! Everyone had smiles on their face but after that again the nail biting things began. Kamran brought up his 50 in his over but it wasnt enough as he was caught out! The first ball went for a single off Kamran's willow. Very next ball was mis timed by Afridi which also resulted in a single. Next ball flew over for a six and it was a great way to bring up a 50! But he just played a lofted shot which was caught by KP.8 runs came off that over . Afridi was on 20* and Abdul Razzaq was the new one to come in.. Pakistan were in trouble as the score was 105 for 5 after 13 overs. 60 was required of 7 overs.

Tim Bresnan was brought back to the attack. And he was good has he resisted the fiercy Afridi by giving only 6 runs in the over. Afridi had hit a 4 and taken a single which was followed by another single off Razzaq.55 in 6 was gettable in such a format but with 5 wickets lost, it was a bit too difficult. Afridi was on 25* and Razzaq on 1*

Stuart Broad came back to bowl this over. Afridi gained strike as Razzaq took 1 of the 1st one. He smashed the 3rd ball for a 6! the next one for 4!! Pakistan just needed 45 in 31 balls with Afridi in but in such a crucial time Afridi lost his wicket. He was hungry for more as he tried to hit another one out of the park but was caught for 35!! Hammad Azam, the debutant came in with 45 required in 30 balls.

Collingwood himself decided to bowl. This over was such that it shifted the momentum completely to the English side! Abdul Razzaq tried to slog but it went for just 1. Next one was to be faced by Azam. He played a defensive shot, went for a risky run but was set back by Razzaq as they didnt want to lose a wicket under such situation. The fielding side were confident as Swann's throw was accurate but 3rd Umpire declared it not out. The third ball went for 2. It were first 2 runs of Azam's career. But he stood no long as he hit one high in the air and was caught by Yardy! C'wood had taken 3 wicket in 2.4 overs. Mohammad Aamer came in. All the hopes were on this pair to create magical partnership towards victory as these were the last 2 recognised batters. The next 2 balls went for 2 runs. One from Aamer and other by Razzaq and Razzaq was to retain strike when they needed 40 from 24!

Graeme Swann bowled the 17th over but this over was in the favour of the batting side. With 3 wides, a 4 and a single for Aamer, and 2 for Razzaq was what the doctor ordered! 10 runs in this over made the equation 30 from 18!! This game was a bit unpredictable as every over was changing the face of the game!!

It was Stuart Broad who bowled the 18th. Aamer was facing. He thrashed the ball way over the fence for a mighty six on the first ball!!Second one?? Bowled'em!! Aamer departed for 12. Saeed Ajmal was to come next. He took 3 runs off the first one he faced. Razzaq rather tried to save his wicket and took 1.Ajmal was beaten consecutively then. This over also went for 10. Two overs were remaining and they required 20.

Ryan Sidebottom completed his spell after bowling the 19th of the match. Razzaq hit a boundary on the first one! It was almost a six, but one bounce inches away from the fence made it 4. His score moved to 11*. Next one went for 1. Ajmal wasted another delivery as he was beaten on the 3rd ball.Fourth one went for 1 run. Abdul Razzaq hit the last one for a single after getting beaten on the previous occasion.Razzaq was to take strike in the final over of the Final match!!

Abdul Razzaq was on 13* and Saeed Ajmal accompanied him with 4*.It was the final over of the ICC World T20 Finals and Pakistan needed 13 runs in 6 balls. There was a lot of support and cheers for both the sides as Collingwood took the ball in his hands to bowl the final over.

Will it be Pakistan, will it be England or will it result in a Super Over?? Stay tuned!!!

Nice final match. Pak can win this. Why so many colors? 2-3 would do the job.
