Yes, we are, we play South Africa at Trent Bridge on Thursday.Well, that was more like it! It's frustrating how we can go from being beaten by the Netherlands (although we were excellent in the first ten batting overs) to turning in a performance like that, one that would've maybe taken care of most of the sides in the tournament.
So, we're through now, for sure?
Wow, it looks like Pakistan might face the prospect of elimination so early. A 48 run defeat has pushed them so much in trouble. Just calculated the run rates, and it seems Pakistan need to win by atleast 40-50 odd runs against Netherlands if they have to progress to the next round (if Pakistan score 200 in their 20 overs, they have to beat Netherlands by 51 runs [ie. if Netherlands play all their 20 overs]). Since this is a T20, that sounds unlikely to me because even a minnow side can beat a big side and in T20's such margins are rare to see.
Great turnaround by England. Finally, they took it serious and brought back Pietersen.
Wouldn't it be 25 runs they need to win by?
It would be sad if we don't make it, but I have never attached too much importance to Twenty20 cricket, as it is fun cricket. I mean it is more for entertainment, even if it is international cricket. It is all for the crowd - Younis Khan

They certainly wouldn't have favourable odds. Before the tournament I noted Pakistan as a prime candidate for an early exit, but that assessment was based on the fact that Pakistan have a tendency to score 130-150 and rely on their bowlers, something that doesn't look like working for them in current conditions. Considering how the Netherlands have actually demonstrated both the ability to chase down 150+ and also restrict decent batsmen on a good surface in the final overs, all they need against Pakistan is early wickets.I wouldn't back Pakistan to beat any associate nation after what happened against Ireland in 2007.
As far I think it effects. It was same rule in IPL and loosing wickets was affecting their NRR.
