Oh yeah.... I completely sidestepped the issue where if NZ and India end up clashing in the QF, then New Zealand will pick Wellington for that clash (irrespective of where both teams stand in the group stages). I feel that avoiding a quarterfinal in NZ conditions will probably help India. The best quarterfinal scenario for India would be playing the one in Adelaide. I have a feeling that Australia might choose either Melbourne or Sydney (more so if they get the hint that they might play against a subcontinental nation in the semis). They would probably want to avoid Adelaide if they face a subcontinental team.

Anyways back to current scenarios, a victory against SA would definitely help in boosting India's confidence further. Beating one of the serious WC contenders against whom we have never won a WC match (the record is 3-0 in SA's favor) should boost our confidence big time. Hope we are up for it.

Wait, in 2011 did India pick Mohali to play Pakistan at? Or is this something new the ICC has introduced where the home teams can select the venues in knockout stages? Also, do you not think Australia would pick either Perth or Brisbane to play India at? Yes we definitely need to beat South Africa to prove many critics wrong. That will be a bloody hard game for us though. If we can take the confidence from the Pakistan game into this one then it will surely be good. My hopes are on Kohli once again!

The rule is most likely that when you have multiple hosts that qualify for the quarter finals; if possible they should all play in their home nations.

Australia can only pick among the venues that have been set for the quarterfinals. Out of the four QF's, three of them are going to be in Australia and the venues that have been set are Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. The fourth QF is at Wellington, NZ. So if NZ qualify (which they definitely will), they will obviously pick a home quarterfinal in Wellington, NZ.

So Australia has to pick among Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide. I think this rule existed in 2011 where the home nations can pick home venues to play their QF or SF. I am not sure if the system allows them to pick among their home venues (for e.g., Australia picking whether to play in Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide).

Teams are ranked by the ICC (pre-tournament rankings). The hosts have an advantage in the sense that they can choose the grounds at which they wish to play their knock-outs. In 2011, India had only one choice in Ahmedabad (QF) & Mohali (SF). Out here, Australia have a choice when it comes to the QF but not in the SF.

In the case that Australia and NZ clash in the semis, the match choice will be given to the country which tops the group.

Did anyone hear the claim that the world cup is fixed? There is this what's app message that they found which has so far correctly predicted all winners. It claims South Africa will win the world cup. I don't know how true this claim is.

Yes I did read it. Its a hoax. That message says India will meet NZ in the first Quarterfinal and will win it. Well according to the WC fixtures, the 4th Quarterfinal is the only one scheduled in New Zealand and if NZ qualify for the QF's (which they will), they should obviously pick a home QF which means they will be playing QF-4 (as I am pretty sure that the dates won't be changed around as ticketing arrangements would be already made around those dates).

But what if it is actually fixed?

Lets get to that when we pass that bridge.

With the BCCI in charge of cricket today anything is possible.

I doubt a whatsapp message does exist however I do believe that there is a possibility that the cup may be fixed, in fact the 2011 cup was fixed how else would a team lift the cup with no bowlers? I take that back the laws are so relaxed now that bowlers are at a great disadvantage unless you have a Steyn/Johnson/Boult etc in your side!

Well 2011 the home pitches gave us an advantage and I think everyone before the cup began new that India was going to lift it.

Also it doesn't list a winner for Ireland vs Pakistan! Also, you have a good point. Let's hope this is false because I want to see India go all the way![DOUBLEPOST=1424482452][/DOUBLEPOST]Does anyone know what the best scenario for India would be in the semi final? Like is there a way they could avoid Australia till the final?
