Group D (England, Ireland, West Indies) - 10th Match Ireland v England

Man I hope the pitches improve, a whole tournament of team batting 1st making 140 or less is going to be boring. I like the occasional low scoring nail biter but thats not what 20/20 is all about.

Maybe we should recommend that they bring the boundary ropes in like in the IPL, that way we will see more 6s!!

I dont want to see sixes galore, but when you cant even play proper cricket strokes its not right. Dont need pitches where the ball isnt even bouncing properly, to be honest its a disgrace. The WI pitches over the past say 12 years have been truly awful.

I know what you mean. I prefer 140-150 to be the average score but not because the wicket is sluggish. I prefer that the wickets be juiced up and thus it's difficult for the batsmen to hit them all over the place (like in SA and to an extent in Eng). These sluggish pitches neither help the faster men nor the batsmen and from what I've seen, it's not like they are too conducive to spin either. The ball just seems to hold up after pitching, making it difficult to hit and that is as bad as a dead track with batsmen hitting scores of 200!

Although when WI were bowling, under lights the wicket did seem to have gotten better, that may be due to the rain shower though so can't be sure.

Hell no. If you arent man enough to clear the ropes on a larger ground then you shouldn't even be attempting a 6. I don't want every ground to look like those tiny New Zealand ones where everyone can clear the ropes with ease.

My point exactly, if you bat and bat well you will score runs, period!

Ireland, beware, England will be keeping a closer eye on your players than their own :sarcasm.

Ireland will definitely get crushed.. It's going to be Kevin's Day!!

Nah he means kevin o'brien

Chewie added 3 Minutes and 4 Seconds later...

That is his name isn't it...?

:laugh Nah, we've already taken their 2 genuinely good cricketers (Morgan and Joyce). The only other one we're looking at is Boyd Rankin, but he's hardly shone in the Championship.

You should warn the Saffers too :laugh

=/ I know you're joking, but come on, are people not bored of this stuff yet? England don't steal South African cricketers from under South Africa's nose. These guys choose to move over to England and qualify to play for us; and if they're good enough, we pick 'em. Basically all the guys we've 'stolen' from South Africa have British parentage too.

Looking forward to the game today. Just hoping Jessica Taylor doesn't go into labour until after our glorious win in the final. I don't want to lose KP for a large chunk of the tournament. I'm sure people will slag him off for going home to see the birth of his first child, but a whole heap of other England players have done it, and it was barely sniffed at. Hoping for a win today, as beating the Windies would effectively put us through, as we're not losing to Ireland. There will not be a Netherlands II in this tournament.
