Hindi Cinema Discussion

I am just back after watching Tees Maar Khan, and I must say that it is one of the better comedy movies of the year. Though it lacks a proper script (which most of the movies of this genre do, of course barring a few exceptions), it's much better than the likes of Housefull, Golmaal 3 etc. The music probably adds a hell lot to the movie. While Dabangg tops as the best comedy movie (though I didn't like it earlier) of the year, this has to be the second best in the aforementioned genre.

My rating: 2.8/5

Watched Jimmy Shergill's " FLAT" :D Another stupid, predictable, non-scary horror movie. The only time it got a bit interesting was some 10 minutes before Interval and last 10-15 minutes.

The funny thing in this horror movie was when Jimmy Shergill enters his flat at one point of time, the (invisible) ghost is watching cartoon on TV :p Then Jimmy switches off the TV.....again to find the ghost switching the cartoon show on.

However, during the course of the movie, you will certainly like actress HAZEL.....so sweet and charming....however, she's got to improve in some of her expressions...also the village girl role, in the flashback, doesnt suit her...in any angle she doesnt look like a village gal. :D

Was Action Replay a creepy movie??
I personally like it. It was a really good movie with a nice ending although the concept was bit from Hollywood movies but still a very nice Indian comedy movie.
Will watch Tees Maar Khan soon, then I'll post my review.

Box Office Update :B.O. update: 'Tees Maar Khan' opens to phenomenal response

Lol Akshay's movies are flop still they earn so much. Remember CC2C?

Even then it earned enough for the production team to celebrate, IIRC.

Had already booked the tickets for today's show at 9. Will be leaving for the theater in just 10 minutes from now. I'll keep my brain outside and will try to watch the lighter part of the movie. Hopefully in that way, it won't suck as much as it did for you all.

Watched Tees Maar Khan yesterday and I personally feel it is not very bad. Though it isn't one of the greatest movies, but still it is good. I am little disappointed by Akshay Kumar as he could have done a lot better with the kind of role provided to him. Its high time things get on the right track.

As far as the much hyped Sheila is concerned, there was nothing too special to be frank about it. It was just another item song and Munni easily is better than Sheila.

For the movie, I feel the script lacked comedy punches. The film was sailing in two boats, one of comedy and the other of suspense which eventually led it to drown. The silly jokes were just enough to get a smile on the face of one for a second or two, nothing more. Raghu and Rajiv have been purely wasted in the film, but I feel they did the job assigned to them well. That was the best they could do with the kind of role given to them.

Katrina Kaif was good. Finally she has begun acting and its paying off. Some of her expressions were amazing and when she gets in the groove wearing her dancing shoes, there is no stopping her. A good job done by Kat!

The surprise package for me Akshay Khanna. He was simply amazing and I didn't really expected such a big role for him. He did that so well, might just lead to his "comeback" in the Bollywood industry.

The film was ordinary, storyline was bad but the cinematography was excellent. I loved the way a forest scene was shot, mind-blowing. Also the graphic skills used at the start of the movie when Tees Maar Khan is in his mother's womb were pretty entertaining.

One thing which has always been special with films directed by Farah Khan are the way the credits are shown at the end. I just love this technique, a tradition started by her since Main Hoon Na. I would actually give half more points to the movie for just the end, it was brilliant!

Overall the movie was good, but it lacked the necessary "masala". Surely good to watch, but nothing would be there to be sad if missed too. I would have given it 2.5 on 5, but as I mentioned, half points just for the end, my rating stands at 3 on 5.

Akshay Kumar is one of the worst things to happen to the Indian Film Industry. Especially off late. He is the epitome of quantity over quality.

Can't believe producers are still backing him. TMK probably only sold because of Sheila Ki Jawani, which has to be credited to great marketing and the amazingly sexy figure of Katrina Kaif.

Katrina too, doesn't even know the language, can't act, yet she's the biggest thing in the industry. Grah. :facepalm

Dont know what these film celebrities see in Katrina that they are rating her high in acting, on the "Koffee with Karan" show. I mean Kareena is not great, but Katrina > Kareena, Deepika, Sonam? COME ON!!!!!

Exactly. But the Bachans last night set it straight, Katrina was dead last.

I think Deepika has the most potential but even she is falling astray into the more commercial niche. I like Priyanka but that is for strictly superficial reasons :p I don't think she's too good of an actress but pretty damn good looking. I don't rate Sonam at all, can't believe she is seen in the same level as Deepika by most people tbh.

Ash is still far and away the best actress in the industry. Second... ?? All of them suck. I like the 90s chicks in Juhi and Kajol, the recent people suck at true acting (but look better). Hate Kareena with a passion.
