Udta Punjab vs Censor Board: Bombay High Court asks CBFC for reasons for cuts : Bollywood, News - India Today

Justice SC Dharmadhikari was stunned about the entie hue and cry on the part of CBFC for calling the film anti-Punjab. He questioned the Censor Board, "Has drug menace never been portrayed on celluloid? Some may be crude, while some may be artistic. How does this signboard insult anyone?"

Pahlaj Nihalani and his entire CBFC team need to be sacked immediately, no matter who the culprit is. This is ridiculous. 'Nil Battey Sannata' - Masterpiece!! This is what cinema should be about - engaging, soul stirring, quick to the point and delivers a great message. The acting is almost superlative from everyone. Swara Baskar (Raanjhanaa fame) gives a lifetime performance and so does the girl who plays her daughter. Ratna Pathak Shah delivers another superb one as usual. There are no songs, but the BGM is superb and keeps the viewers gripped. The movie is pretty short at 1 hr 40 mins and the screenplay is so engaging that the movie felt short. Frankly this is one rare movie where I could not find a single negative (if I have to pick too deep, there was one scene where there was a minor logical mistake, which I can't say here as many might not have seen this). This movie deserved probably a producer like Aamir Khan who could have made this movie reach wider areas.

Udta Punjab - 8/10

Watched it and it was actually very good - once you get over the expletives laden lingo. Very well made movie. The story-line had three parallel plots running, showing the drug menace of Punajab from different vantage points - and intertwining it perfectly with politics, elections and corruption in the state (no wonder the current Punjab govt. tried so hard to get it censored). At the same time it had streaks of a Bollywood potboiler too with equal doses of Drama, Humor and even Action (although not in the conventional sense). Gave a good message in the end without getting preachy

Performance wise - very solid overall. Hard to pick a standout performance because the 4 co-leads were all so good. Alia really packed a punch yet again with a good role, and Shahid's Tommy Singh was absolutely mad. Kareena and Daljit were really good as well.

Traffic (2016) - Really entertaining! Remake of the Malayalam hit by the same name, inspired from real life event that happened in Chennai. Manoj Bajpayee was subdued but was very effective. All the actors did a great job even though Divya Dutta hammed her way through it. Was a pretty crisp film and well shot. 3.5/5
