Hindi Cinema Discussion

3 Idiots is actually a satiric film. It is sketching the picture of the darker side of our society. The theme mainly mocks at a common myth of our social system- that you'll have to get your son/daughter admitted in an IIT, by hook or by crook, otherwise his career is finished. If you have seen the full trailer, there's a time when Aamir says, "Did my parents ever ask me what is my aim, my ambition?" This line is quite significant. With these IIT coaching centres multiplying like bacterias, and the parents lining up to get their sons/daugthers admitted there, caring the least about the pressure (I have seen a student perish like this)......you know what? It's time we think about this issue.

Well Kartik bhai, movies might also act as a medium to highlight the condition of our society. "Slumdog Millionaire" was such type of a movie (although I agree it massively exaggerated the reality), "Swades" was such type of a movie, "Chak de India!" too was like this to some extent. Of course, entertainment is the first area where a movie must deliver, but in some cases, it's not only about entertainment. It's about something more.

Slumdog is fantasy movie, in reality it does not happen like that.

:facepalm

i never said there shouldnt be any messages. my point was entertainment should be of prime importance. if your able to convey a good message ALONG with entertainment, then its the best combination. e.g - Rang De Basanti.

oh and Slumdog SUCKS !

jkartik added 0 Minutes and 56 Seconds later...
