Q) How does the kinetic theory explain how a piece of ice changes into water, and then into water vapour?

I haven't done physics for years. Who cares about kinetic theory and why it effects ice and stuff? Stupid school questions. Sorry I couldn't be more help? All I care about ice is if it can keep my drinks cool and try and not crash my car on it
