ICC Champions Trophy 2013 - England & Wales

West Indies perform well in the ICC events, I don't see it changing soon.
Pakistan can beat any team even if they have been dominated a day before, such has been their way for so many years.
SAF, can't say too much about them tbh.:p
Just opposite to Pakistan, get carried away in big matches , they have their limitations, not taking anything away from them though, they are the best team on paper.
India, with an inexperienced line-up, don't see them getting through. But yeah, would be a proud moment if they do.

IMO, its West Indies and Pakistan/RSA

Must be kidding me right. India are by far one of the favourites this tournament. Bhuv and Praveen Kumar utilase the swinging conditions. Ashwin and Jadeja for the spin. Very Very deep batting to carry them home, with an exceptional inform Kohli,Raina,Dhoni.

Pakistan are so inexperienced and with no more big names (e.g. Afridi,Gul,Younis Khan) Pakistan stand no chance. Nasir Jamshed is in abysmal form, as well as Farhat (useless player), Hafeez is average. Shafiq is a test player and has a strike rate of 70 on a good day. Asad Ali, Ehsan Adil have little to no experience. Junaid Khan is average. Malim is too far down the order for the benefit of the team. Saeed Ajmal seemed off in the Ireland and Scotland series. Misbah is too old, and thinks he is some sort of hero, when he really isn't.

Our captain just said that we will be underdogs going into the champions trophy which is strange for number 1 ODI team in the world but it is true. Looking at the conditions, we are going as underdog. Bhuvneshwar is very good with control on his swing but he will be playing in England for first time. Praveen Kumar is not in the squad.

Too be fair both Pakistan and India have come in a difficult group, with South Africa (Steyn and Morkel, and then the massive batting) and West Indies (T20 champions)

India are nowhere near favorites. We dont have the likes of Sehwag, Gambhir and Yuvraj, and even though these guys are not anywhere near form, their reputation alone would have made us look favorites. We know that the likes of Karthik, Rohit, etc have been consistently inconsistent in internationals. And Dhawan is untested. Vijay got in because of a great test series against Australia in subcontinent conditions. Raina has the short ball problem and England will be a potential nightmare country for him. All we have is Kohli and Dhoni. Dhoni bats well in ODI's irrespective of conditions. But just two batsmen can't save us.

We have to defy expectations if we have to win the trophy. I am not putting my money on India.

Praveen is in the provisional squad, he isn't touring. Bhuv, we only have to see, how well can he control his bowling in given situations, he does know his limitations, and yes, he's better than Praveen in a away that he's a bit faster than him even while swinging, but the cause of concern is death bowling. I do expect Umesh Yadav to improve, he already has a natural action which makes him swing the bowl, and he is quick, but he tend to slower down his pace in the last few Internationals he played, for better line and length. Jadeja, I can never trust him either with the bat or with the ball, he's a difficult case. :p
Now with batting, yeah, alot of potential, but again 'foreign' conditions. It would be good to see them perform though.

Pakistan's bowling and English conditions, personally I'll give them an edge over RSA's bowlers, but then as I said above, they tend to be the worst sometimes.
But India is clearly not my favourite to win the CT2013.

yes i agree..india even tho they are number 1 looks inexperience in batting.but i feel after safrica its india got balance atttack..bhuvi and yadav to watch out for..shikhar dhavan is fresh addition with better gameplay than gambhir.murali vijay and rohit sharma gona be biggest flop thats the sure.kaarthick is good for 20's only..uthappa should have been there ..best india team for next wrldcup uthappa,dhavan,kohli,dhoni,yuvi/raina,bhuvi,irfan,umesh,aaron/ishant,ashwin

What is this: a my team is worse than your team thing? Cause Australia's got no chance :D

My honest opinion is that almost ANY team could win this. We've seen ODI results in the last year that reflect how even it is in this format eg. NZ went to SA and won an ODI series 2-1, Bangladesh beat WI 3-2, Pakistan went to India and won 2-1, SL came to Australia and drew 2-2, India went to SL and won 4-1, Australia went to UAE and beat Pakistan 2-1. To me all those are at least slightly surprising results and every team seems to have a won a series here or there. So this tournament will probably come down to who can handle the conditions, and who happens to hit a rich vein of form at the right time - we'll see!

We get to have a look at a couple of teams in a bit, Sri Lanka v Pakistan are playing a warm-up at Edgbaston.

Be warned though - the weather is atrocious!

West Indies are having a great chance to win this series, I think they are the strongest team of the tournament .

India go in as underdogs, and that's when they are the most dangerous. I hope they live up to that reputation of "performing best when not many tip them to".
