ICC Champions Trophy 2013 - England & Wales

It would have been interesting to see anderson bowl at the death as that's traditionally been his big weakness in ODIs and in this line-up he'd have had to taken that responsibility.

pretty crappy from england though, plenty of talent, literally no know-how.

What? Jimmy Anderson is the best swing bowler in the world.

I don't know what you're smoking mate, but Jimmy is not the best swing bowler in the world. He is the best in England, but Dale Steyn is by far the best swing bowler the world has seen in this generation.

Dale Steyn is purely a fast bowler. Jimmy Anderson is and has been the best swing bowler in the world for about 3 years now.

This Event Lacks Proper Scheduling and is just mere a Formality For ICC Revenues.

A Big Arena Event Like Champions Trophy Has Sadly Lost it's Charm and Beauty.

Would Have Been better if it Had Expansive and Detailed Scheduling.

I actually like the Champions Trophy - it's short and to the point. Not bloated like a World Cup.

We tend to remember the 1 or 2 good games from a World Cup eg. Ireland beating England, and not remember the drudgery of a whole month of relatively meaningless games before the quarterfinals began. The only real thing of interest being: could minnows force an upset? Yes, the one mentioned above. Could Bangladesh beat out one of the top 8 teams and make the quarterfinals? No. Pretty clear as soon as they fell in a heap vs West Indies.

Anyway enough World Cup bagging...looking forward to this tournament! Hoping for some interesting tactics :yes

BTW, any Aussies on here know if of these games are on Free-to-air? I thought there was a rule about any Australian cricket game in England had to be shown on FTA...

Champions Trophy 2013 preview ? India

Article by Baiju Nair -

Indian cricket is going through a tough phase for the past few weeks with the emergence of the IPL scandals and the calls for the stepping down of the BCCI president. Amidst all these troubles the loyal cricket?fans of India will be looking forward to the national team to get them something to cheer.

The current Indian ODI team is truly in a transition. The regular names we used to see in the team line up such as Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj and Zaheer are no longer the certainties they used to be. Moreover this will be the first global tournament India will be playing after the retirement of Sachin Tendulkar. So all in all this tournament is going to be a litmus test?for the new young brigade of India.

The batting looks thin on paper with the absence of the regular names. India will have a new opening combination for the tournament with Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan who got selected after their superb show in the test series against Australia. Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina are the key members of the top and middle order and as always MS Dhoni will be looked up to provide the acceleration at the death. Rohit Sharma has again got an opportunity despite never being consistent. This is a golden chance?for him to get some good scores under his belt especially with most of the seniors missing in the batting.

India goes into the tournament with 2 all-rounders in Irfan Pathan and Ravindra Jadeja. It would be interesting to see who will get selected in the playing eleven, the early summer conditions which helps swing bowling might work in Irfan?s?favor.

Bowlers are also pretty new in International circuit. Everyone will be eagerly waiting to see how Bhuvaneshwar Kumar will perform in the England conditions. Kumar, a genuine swing bowler with the new ball had a great ODI and T20 series against Pakistan in India and also had a impressive test series against the Aussies. Umesh Yadav will be also want to give a good performance as he comes off?from a long injury lay off. Ashwin also is a key factor in the bowling line up as the lead spinner. It is good to see Amit Mishra getting a call up to the side but whether he gets selected to play is another matter.

Best result

Players to watch out for :-

Virat Kohli :- Is the key member of the batting unit. One of the best batsman in the ODIs. India will be hoping he will continue his great?form in the Champions trophy.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar :- Kumar will be a handful in these conditions. Seeing the way he made the white ball swing in India, this should only get better.

Shikhar Dhawan :- Had a dream test debut against the Aussies and had a good run in the IPL after coming back?from injury. He will be looked up to provide India with blazing starts.

MS Dhoni :- The ?captain cool?. This will be a real test for MS as he leads a young team in a global tournament where every match counts. His style of captaincy will be monitored closely in this tournament. Make no mistake about that.

Prediction :- I predict a semi-final finish?for the team.

Nice day for cricket! Pakistan Vs India on the 14th? June...should be interesting!

When Bhuvneshwar Kumar can't swing the ball, you know the pitch is dead. Absolutely no movement in the air or from the surface. Not much turn for spinners even though the pitch is dry. 350 is possible.

June 15th is the big day.

^^^^
Yes, true. Mishra getting turn & the pacers not getting much movement. Can't see much grass on the pitch there. Expect the conditions to be better during the actual competition. This pitch is almost a batsman's paradise.

Great to see Ishant Sharma and Bhuv bowl so well in the death, has usually been indian's problem in the last few years. Sorry Dinda's problem.

Weird wicket it has to be said, dry and not really doing anything. Imagine that the other surfaces will be greener and when overcast the seamers will be very important.

Come on Lankans!@!!!!! Bowl them out for under 200!!!!!!!!!!!!
