If Vijay is played as the opener, then I would play DK in place of Rohit Sharma in the middle order for sure. Would be very happy if Karthik can finally fulfill his potential in international cricket with consistent performances. Hope he does! He can also be a superb backup for Dhoni for the keeping gloves.

Since you are from Pakistan, you might be understanding the meaning of some of the foul language that Kohli so frequently uses on the cricket field in the name of "emotions" (the infamous "MC" and "BC" language; people frequently refer to Kohli these days as "Kohli MCBC"). That IMHO is not "strong emotions" that the game needs. Its ugly emotions, that needs to be kept wrapped within himself.

India's top order flopped, that is why he had to bat. There was no significant batting left after Dhoni. I am not counting Jadeja as he is the Afridi of India.

Anyways it was just a practice match and both sides would be in high spirits even now....The only concern for me now is the quality of the pitch.... A pitch in England should be a Green one, one with some or lots of support for the bowlers making it challenging for the batsmen according to me and if am not wrong most of the people here would agree with me, unlike the flat track where the Ind vs SL just concluded....
