ICC Champions Trophy 2013 - England & Wales

So the final equation is out.The Kiwis are dependent on the result of today's match. If Australia defeat Lanka by any margin, then New Zeland go through. If Australia defeat Lanka by 126 runs or more the Aussies go through. If the Aussies lose,Lanka go through.Practically seeing by the present situation,Aussies can rule themselves out :( Maybe New Zeland can hope that the Aussies somehow record a win which looks very uncertain.Fingers crossed.Hope Aussies win by over 126 runs and qualify for the semi finals.

That win for England almost effectively eliminates Australia. Aussies need a miracle here to qualify for the semis. However, Sri Lanka are in with a very good chance. A win and they are through, leapfrogging NZ.

What is the victory margin required for SL to top Group A? SL would want to top Group A so that they don't face current tournament favorites India and rather face 'big tournament chokers' South Africa. The team that tops Group A will face SA and Sri Lanka need a better run rate than England to top Group B. If Sri Lanka lose to Australia but the victory margin not being enough to eliminate NZ, then England tops Group B. From an Indian point of view, I would rather face another team than England in the semis.

You wouldn't want a SL vs RSA match in the semi final, would you? No matter whosoever reaches the final, their opposition would win. Jk :p

The only team I want other than India to win the CT is New Zealand. Not been many poor performances by them, even yesterday, not that bad, just not enough. Williamson showed that he can hang on and still play more than just a run a ball inning. Although I think the ball on which he got out, should have been a no ball.

New Zealand IMHO have been boring side (TO ME!!). They don't have attractive players who can take a game by the scruff of the neck. McCullum is a guy who comes close, but he fails more often than he clicks. The days of Fleming, Astle, McMillan, Cairns, Harris, etc was good. But even then, NZ were always a side that can compete but won't be followed passionately or fiercely.

I mean good for NZ if they make it, but personal choice - I don't want to see them in the semifinals. England and Sri Lanka or England and Australia is my choice.

They have a decent bowling attack, and lack the depth in middle order, which is the case for all of the sides except a few. Luke Ronchi has been terrible, Fulton is much better than him. Then you have Guptill, Taylor, Williamson and McCullum. Strong on paper, looks balanced, they just do not click at the right time. Inconsistent, but can beat any team.

How many times do we have to play Sri Lanka? It is becoming so boring now to see India and Sri Lanka playing with each other like every other week now.

I wouldn't want to be facing England in the semis itself. If we can get to the final, I would like to face England in the final (if England also get there).

I don't mind this at all.

So very irritating that is!!:facepalm
Is that convincing at all, you are out of the competition, 20 overs in hand, last known batsman in, and decide to slog!!:facepalm
The target was pretty much gettable.

Yet another ODI between India and Lanka.Phew!Hope we dont see an India Vs Sri Lanka game anytime soon after the one on 20th in Cardiff.Really very boring.

Our next tournament after the Champions trophy is a tri-series in West Indies also featuring...............................................SRI LANKAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!:lol:D

No but seriously, I fancy our chances against Sri Lanka more than against England or New Zealand. I want India to make the final, and facing SL against whom we have had a brilliant record in recent times (and also with SL being a co-subcontinent team) is better than facing England or New Zealand who are more used to these conditions.
