ICC Champions Trophy 2013 - England & Wales

You were one of the rare guys that believed in India's chances for this tournament even before it started. You seem to be proven right, and I am proven wrong (well, I'm not complaining:D:thumbs)

Ha Ha, I know. I said before the start of the tournament that India were strong favorites, and all you guys laughed at me. With a team with as much potential and well balanced as India, it would be a miracle if they weren't in the final

I would be glued to the TV set tomorrow just to see how Kumar bowls to the England batsmen. The lad is too good bowling to the lefties and thats where he can miss the trick tomorrow. In the top 7, England have just two left handers. True test for Kumar to bowl against the batsmen who plays the conditions the better than anyone.

Unfortuately I have to go to a wedding, so I will be unable to watch the final. Was really looking forward to Sir Ji, Bhuva and Dhawan.

The forecast points to a washout tomorrow, sadly. In which case the trophy is shared.

We all would hate that happening, is`nt it! Let us hope the rain stays well-behaved as it did at Cardiff during the semis.

Oh god! Don't want India to end up with another shared Champions Trophy. We already did it with Sri Lanka in 2002. Hope we get a game tomorrow. Want a winner for the trophy, and obviously would like it to be India!:cheers

I would like this to continue and the World Cup proper to include more teams (the format I would come to later). My ICC events fixture list would include these 4 events in this order and each being played out in a quadrennial fashion.

World Cup
T20 World Cup
World Test Championship
Champions Trophy

This way every year the ICC would have a big ticket event and each offering something different. Regulate the number of pointless 7-match ODI series that are cropping up. Keep events like the Champions Trophy and encourage more Tri-series and quadrangulars like it used to happen in the 90s. I remember even teams like Kenya, Zimbabwe and Bangladesj playing a lot more international cricket in the 90s against the major nations purely because there were a lot of these tri-nation/quadrangular tournaments. There is so much more to tournament cricket than what these 7 match series can offer. Waiting to see if your side qualifies for the final, all the number crunching for various scenarios is fun! Keep these events and also allow sides like Ireland to be a part of these tri-nation tourneys.

If anything has to be changed to accomodate the Test Championship, it has to be the T20 WC being changed from a biennial event to a quadrennial event. This will also add value to the T20 WC which now does not feel like a World event owing to the fact that it is played every other year. The Champions Trophy in its current format is sharp and short and adds a lot of value to the international calender. It could be the cricketing equivalent of the FIFA Confederations Cup which is played just one year before the FIFA WC.

Lets be honest here the only reason this tournament is apparently a success is because India has played so well and made the final. I've found this tournament completely uninteresting with the rain and uncompetitive matches. I'm not hating on India or anything btw thats just the facts, the success of every tournament hinges on how well India does, in reality this tournament has been a complete borefest.

Well it is not raining yet, but it is overcast. Hope we can get some cricket in.

----------

India have lost the toss, which is a bit worrying, as I have staked 900000+ on the winning the final.
