ICC Champions Trophy 2017

Here we go again. Just because of the last match, they think Fahim is Garry Sobers. Why is he opening the bowling? Where is Junaid? Where is Hasan? Where is Imad?

Fahim should not open bowling in regular matches. The way they have opened with Fahim, it looks like they will replace Junaid Khan with Fahim to have extra long lower middle-order. I think it will be a disaster to play two front line spinners against India.

I think of the same. Cause if Hafeez is playing. There is no reason to play both Imaad and Shadab. 3 spinners + S Malik.

It's 34 overs match. Anything over 200-220 will be difficult for Pakistan to chase.

Except Fahim, rest have bowled well on such an odd shape ground.

Although England is one of the best places to host a big tournament due to the diversity in local population, the weather makes it frustrating. We`ve already had two games (London yesterday and Birmingham today) lost to rain. If its a sign of the things to come, we might be in for a frustrating tournament, punctuated by rain interruptions. This is why hosting big events in England is dicey.

Has rain interrupted again?
EDIT : Yupe it has.

Sunday is predicted to be grey and rainy as well. Really hope we have a full game! Are there any regions in the UK which are relatively drier? Birmingham always seems to have bad weather around during the cricket season and yet get to host the games in ICC events. Even the last CT had Edgbaston and Cardiff hosting games which were lost to rain.

England and Sri Lanka are perhaps the the most rain effected countries among the cricketing nation.

The problem is we can't control rain. It's up to nature. But yea I agree with you that are there any regions in UK which are relatively less likely to get hit by rain? I'm also looking for this answer.

Rain can't be controlled. But boards like ICC can host tournaments at a time when monsoon does not affect the games much? With us having the kind of technology today to accurately predict when the weather is expected to be rough and all, surely it should be possible to assign tournaments to countries where its not raining much.

I have been having this question for sometime now - why is England hosting a second consecutive Champions Trophy, when they hosted the last one in 2013?

And that is why he needs to bat at 6. Here's my lineup

Shehzad
Hafeez
Babar
Malik
Sarfraz
Imad
Fahim
Shadab
Hasan
Amir
Junaid

I have not followed Pakistan cricket for a while but if I am allowed to put in my two cents, I would have Zaman open with Hafeez as Pakistan need some fresh legs and experience at the top. Babar is prolly your best batsman after Malik so Babar in at 3. I would have Sarfraz at 4 because I believe he is more of a drafter than an aggressor. Having him in the slog overs would do more harm to the team than good. Also, I am of the opinion that he can be trusted for more responsibility. Malik can play both laid back and aggressive innings so he will be at 5 unless both Hafeez and Babar are lost in first 7-8 overs of the innings.

I have heard a lot of good for Shahdab so I would have him and Imad in. I have never seen Fahim play but I would ideally pick a 3-2 bowling comprising of 3 seamers and two spinners on a flat wicket which has me short of choices from the Pakistan squad except for Wahab who can be a double edged sword on road like wickets so I would trust Fahim over him.

Zaman
Hafeez
Babar
Sarfraz
Malik
Imad
Fahim/Wahab Riaz
Shadab
Hasan
Amir
Junaid

I would like Zaman as well, but Shehzad and Hafeez won't be dropped. I like Sarfraz at 4, but they've thrown him in at 6 to protect that idiot Hafeez.
