ICC Champions Trophy 2017

I always felt that England is not the place to bowl fast and it seems the same in today's match so far. You need to bowl seam up deliveries with pace between 125-135. Its easier to negotiate pace on such pitches.

Loaded with batting, these pitches. Each innings has brought about a century! Williamson is the new entrant.

Australia's greatest advantage, their bowling attack, has been negated by the flat pitches and small grounds on offer. The pitches essentially reduce the tournament to a shootout between the 8 batting lineup, making bowling immaterial.

I still think the smart and creative bowlers will really thrive.

Indian fans - seeing the way the game has gone so far (between NZ and AUS), do you really think we need Yadav to play this Sunday? I now seem more inclined towards Bumrah, who is tighter and also might come in very handy if its a truncated match. And I seem inclined towards 5 specialist bowlers rather than 4 specialists + Pandya.

I am also thinking the same. Fast pace bowlers might not be as successful as they should. Intelligence will play a big role.

For Pakistan I think Hasan Ali will be key. He seems to me like the bowler who can deliver on these pitches. Though Amir will be main bowler, but Hasan Ali has proved his bowling in middle overs also.

Root century - :tick:
Williamson century - :tick:
Smith - ?
Kohli - ?

Predictions?

Sad to say but Pakistan don't have any "fast" bowler except Wahab, who should not play. Rest are all medium pace bowlers. With overcast conditions, Amir and Junair should look to swing/seam the ball rather than trying to bowl fast. I don't know the reason but Abbas would have been an ideal choice in such conditions as he is a genuine seam bowler.

I still remember Mohammad Asif. :/

Can someone please explain why Australia need to chase at more than half a run per over than the initial rate despite bowling out the opponents? This makes no sense whatsoever.

DuckWorth is very complicated.

I doubt Akram or Steyn could swing it in these conditions. Logically youd think seam bowling should do the trick but after witnessing numerous flat pitches in India for the last 15 yrs I will say bowling wouldnt have much of a say in proceedings

Match abandoned. What a shame! Australia will be the ones smiling here. Poor NZ. The match was theirs for the taking.
