ICC Champions Trophy 2017

Bangladesh is a C grade team? Such a delusional statement to make by a cricket follower

They won everything starting end of 2014 beating India, Pak, SAF, WI at home. Almost beat England too (2-1). And drew with SL in SL. 70+ win percentage in ODIs even at home is a big deal for any team, let alone one which was a clear underdog/m!nnow a few years back.

India would be stupid to take them lightly and Indians fans would be silly to write off BD in current form.

Maybe he is reverse jinxing so that India looses.;)

You are that afraid of Bangladesh? I was expecting you guys are rejoicing that Bangla is in the Semis.

Bangladesh does give a better calm than Australia or New Zealand. But slipping on a banana peel is so embarrassing that teams will always be scared of it. And Bangladesh have increased the instance of opposition teams slipping on 'banana peels' against them. So we ought to be very scared. At some point of time, they have to move past the semifinal to the final stage. I hope not this time.

He should be permanent even in the tests. Or did you mean Rahul is already permanent in tests hence you didn't say ?

Yes. That's why I didn't say it. Rahul is a permanent fixture in tests and rightly so as he needs to stay in there. I dont see Dhawan doing anything to dislodge Rahul in the test XI.

For Bangladesh it will be a very difficult task to beat India but the reward will be huge and it can easily transform the Bangladeshi cricket forever. The biggest advantage they have right now is their inform batting line but I feel bar Mustafiz their bowling line is very weak and on a flat pitch it will be difficult to contain India. Compare to Pakistan vs England where although England is a heavy favorite but Pakistan still have a slight chance due to good spin bowling options but in case of India vs Bangladesh I don't see any weakness in this present Indian team which Bangladesh can exploit. The maximum chance for Bangladesh will be if they some how chase against India and the target is under 320.

With Pakistan and Bangladesh through to the semi's. It's a real slap in the face of the person that said the Champions Trophy should be between the top 5 teams!!

I want this to lead to a more inclusive world cup to further promote the game within the western hemisphere, especially within the T20 format due to its unpredictability.

Yes, indeed! Getting a point out of a game where their NRR should have gone to the dogs in a huge defeat is a very fitting way to make the semis. Pakistan played outstandingly well and deserve to be in the semis. If Bangladesh beat India, they will deserve their spot in the final.

However, it is extremely poor form to believe that Pakistan would have sailed through in the SA chase. They made an absolute sham out of their SL chase and it's an aspect of the game that even their most hardcore fan knows needs improving. Pakistan were ahead in that game, but by no means home. If I were a SA fan I'd feel a bit grieved.

The slap you're directing to me and those that share my opinion should be handed to the ICC and they should even present the other cheek so that it can be slapped further.

A few years back, India going to play a test series abroad was an embarrassment. If there was a test championship between the top teams then, the same guy (me) would have said they don't deserve to be a part of it.

Similarly, as triumphant as the qualification of Bangladesh and Pakistan is, the rain affected matches have undoubtably left a weird taste in the mouth of a fan. In a global event, you want to see the teams slug it out till the end to reach the pinnacle, not have two mad geeks (D/L) decide outcomes based on mad numbers. I understand your patriotism and even admire your passion, but my theory of top 5 teams stands because the gulf did appear very wide. For the last time, my rift is with this farcical organisation of the tournament, nothing to do with a country or it's fans.

How can you say that it'd go like other losses. It would be a huge upset as there is no competition between the two sides and Bangladesh isn't among the top 5 sides at the moment. It is a below par side still with shades of hardwork and eagerness to do something, not more than that. Bangladesh is still far behind the top international level despite they have beaten Newzeland in CT. Its a C grade team still, just don't judge by Rankings only. India should win this match very cleanly.
What a massive underestimation. Bangladesh have beat top teams, they whitewashed South Africa and Pakistan, and beat India comphrensively. They are slowly becoming a very strong team. I don't understand how they are a 'C' grade team. They are a strong team, with the ability to suprise their opponents. What makes them a below par side? They are just as strong as Pakistan and SL. Yes, India have an advantage, but that doesn't mean that Bangladesh are a poor side. They are dangerous on their day.We are confident but wary of Bangladesh.

Ideal Line-up for me against England

1. :bat: Fakhar Zaman
2. :bat: Azhar Ali/Ahmed Shehzad
3. :ar: Shoaib Malik
4. :bat: Babar Azam
5. :ar: Haris Sohail
6. :wkb: Sarfraz Ahmed
7. :ar: Faheem Ashraf
8. :ar: Imad Wasim
9. :ar: Mohammad Amir
10. :bwl: Junaid Khan
11. :bwl: Hasan Ali

I am in favor of giving chance to Ahmed Shehzad instead of Azhar. I feel that Malik needs promotion in the batting order, so far he is useless.

Ahmed Shehzad can't put bat on ball. Azhar Ali might be slow but atleast he scores runs. Also instead of making Babar number 4 I would keep him at number 3 instead of shuffling him around all the time. Put Malik at 4 and the team looks pretty solid.

This lineup is going to get alot of beating by England. There are no spinners in this team and Faheem and Imad will go for plenty. Shadab and Hafeez as a genuine spinners are must against England since spin is the only chance for Pakistan to somehow strangle England.

I think we don't need to change the Playing XI in crucial match. I mean I know Hafeez and Azhar were not up to the task but we only have 1 match and we can't risk it. I mean since Hafeez and Azhar were in the Playing XI we should give them the whole CT17 (Just 1 match left or maybe 2) I would only include Shadab Khan for Azhar Ali or Imad. That's all!

Why fix what's not broken? Seems to me like changes for the sake of changes. If you get Shadab in, you have to let go off a bowler. And dropping Hafeez is a risk? Playing him and batting him at 4 is a BIGGER risk! Pakistan team in my opinion?

Shehzad
Zaman
Azam
Malik
Ahmed
Sohail
Ashraf
Wasim/S Khan
Amir
J Khan
A Ali

Yeah, Hafeez has to be dropped. All he gives you is a bit of mediocre batting and a bit of mediocre bowling. There's really nothing to lose by dropping him.

Maybe let him do the press conference - at least he speaks at a speed humans can understand, unlike Sarfraz. :lol
