Sabbir could be really crucial in bringing them as close to the target as possible. He’s the only player barring Liton who can be aggressive from the very first ball and is a proper middle order cricketer in addition. If he doesn’t get out soon once in, expect some nerves from this Aussie side. Had Saifuddin not been injured, they could have batted till 10 too.

Australia getting away with some ordinary bowling yet again. They are just surviving on some streaks of ill luck for the chasing sides and some ordinary bowling attacks that allow them to get 350ish. Tamim's scoring rate really hurt Bangladesh today. They've been superb this tournament so far.

It's over for us unless any of the top four royally fearsome tweak up, honestly. Our bowling and fielding are just not good enough, there's very little discipline to stop the runs from leaking. I think we could have kept all of our opponents barring NZ around 50 runs shorter than they scored.

Thats how you fight against top teams. Bangladesh leaving out a good example for West Indies, Pakistan and South Africa. They have been performing at par with the expectations, if only their bowling line up gets improved a little bit.

Bangladesh has learnt like Sri Lanka from the mid 90's to late, they got stick with their players and now gradually they are having some fruits.

Australia bowling line up is not up to the mark, the match against Pakistan was more a gift from Pakistan batting side rather than some extra ordinary bowling from Australia. Aussies are depending on Starc bit too much, Cummins has been good but he is not very special, rest of them just lack with skills.

Btw, Is it just me or Steve Smith still behaves like a captain on the field ? his expressions, I feel like so.

Bumrah said England has the flattest wickets...do you think in recent times the curator prepares the pitch to be flat due to England's strong batting lineup?

I can see a lot of people saying that Australia is not up to mark and teams are gifting them wins. If it happens once or twice, it is believable. But you cant win consistently at the mercy of other team's gifts.

They might not be performing at 100%, but they are clinching the critical moments in the game and pushing hard at the right time to pull out favorable results. Their actions on the field are forcing errors from the opposition. And one or more players puts up their hands to deliver the decisive blow - whether it is Starc's second and third spells to break a team's chase, or Maxwell's 35 from 10 to push for above par score.

They might not have come into the tournament as favorites, but they certainly are now.

SL to cause an upset today ?

I’ve been guilty of underestimating them too. But they are winning games despite not being at their best. I still think they rely too much on a few players to win games like the Indian side of previous years and wouldn’t be surprised if they lost in the knockouts after that one game where a lot of things go wrong (and if one team could deal with that kind of pressure, it would be the Aussies) but that would still be an overachievement given how poor they were just a year ago at this point. Langer deserves credit for the way he has built this side and motivated them.

Not one greentop or even a sporting pitch for England's matches, as far as i can remember.

I can see what Matthews is trying to do here. He is trying to play out the overs and go crazy in last 5-6 overs to take the score past 270-280. It's a been typical Matthews innings. Full of calm and composure. Remember the last ODI of 2014 Ind vs SL ODI series played at Ranchi ? Anyone ?

Come on how come you will expect a green top or sporting pitch for England's matches? They will fail cause they are so used to 300+ score.

Akram saying that Archer has been phenomenal in this test match sums up this innings perfectly. :D

There is no use going crazy in the last 5 overs when you are batting with tailenders without any wickets in hand. ODI cricket has moved on and scoring runs in the middle overs particularly on flat pitches like this is crucial and has been quite lacking in Sri Lanka’s batting today.

Also, why doesn’t Mathews just bat at 3 if he is going to play so slowly? He is the most talented batsman in this lineup and isn’t bowling anyway these days.
