Australia are going to thrash the World XI. I got my tickets for all 3 ODI. If only Warne still played ODIs, then Australia will really thrash them!!! I wagered 500 on Australia.

Oh dear, this type of post is very reminiscent to some posted prior to the Ashes. Don't some of you guys ever learn not to be so arrogant? There's rarely such a thing as a dead cert in sport, (as Oz should know after losing to the Bangars), that's why we all love it so much.

True. But england didnt deserve to win the series...they won because of all the luck they had.

$500 on us? Why throw away money? If we beat that team I'd say the match was fixed.

Im gonna go for the Aussies in this one, simply because I cant see the World XI side performing as a team. It simply doesnt happen.

Also I dont think this series is anything more than the charity and benefit matches we have every now and then. But it will be nice to see some of the best players in the world playing as one team (or atleast trying to).

I agree with you there Vaughanie. It's going to be difficult for the World XI to drum up that team spirit so important to a winning cause - an 'all for one and one for all' type attitude like the one shown by Aus and England in recent years.

The thing in our favour is we have incentive to win and something to prove after the Ashes series, all the World XI have to play for is money essentially so we should be playing to make a point.

============================================

I love those pictures man :cheers

In ODI the teams are more even cause anything can happen with ODIs. The biggest problem for Aus will be can a new opener be successful straight away.
From what I have heard it looks like Katich will get the job leaving Hussey down the order. I would have liked Jaques to come instead of Katich but we shall see how Katich goes opening.

Jaques is useless! I would like to see Clarke open the batting:hpraise. Jaques is not good enough to play for Australia.

I have no problem with Clarke opening but Jaques is not useless. What are you basing this theory on?

Also to say about the previous pictures Flintoff was hit by Akhtar with a ball.

But if that news is true Assie1st, that performance of World XI is pretty bad. I want to know who revived them from 178-7 to 281-8.

Edit: that news is right.

World stars post handy total
October 2, 2005

THE World XI scored 8-281 from 50 overs today in its one-day cricket match against Victoria at the Junction Oval.

A crowd of about 10,000 crammed into the suburban ground on a perfect spring day to watch the practice game, which is the world squad's only hitout ahead of the Super Series against Australia.

Rahul Dravid top-scored with 66 and World captain Shaun Pollock made an unbeaten 54.

Paceman Shane Harwood was the pick of the Victorian attack with 4-37.

Harwood could have had a five-wicket haul, but Bushrangers captain Cameron White dropped Dravid off his bowling when the Indian was on 61.

White, who claimed 2-49, caught Dravid off the bowling of Mick Lewis.

The teams agreed last night that the World XI would bat first and the two teams played with squads of 13, with 11 to bat and another two players able to bowl.

The first of the Super Series one dayers will be a day-nighter on Wednesday at Telstra Dome.
