Is there any real point in this series?
Australia have a challenging summer ahead of them and i fail to see what can be gained.
After a long Ashes tour surely the players could do with a bit of domestic Sheffield shield cricket (or whatever it's called these days) and get some confidence back rather than a possible defeat in a meaningless test match.

we would love to see Sachin play, but it is very unlikely. He has still to recover from the operation and is not fully fit.
Even Sachin wants to play but i think his elbow will not permit him to. :( :( :(

Have heard from a local newspaper that Inzimam has taken the place of Sachin in both ODIS & Tests due to his injury...
:cheers

Mate where does it say that?, Tendulkar as been given a deadline untill the 21st of october, if Tendulkar dont make it then I think Piteterson will take his place or gibbs or chanderpual.

It says inzamam put on stand by .
The PCB has been told that inzi may be selected and i think he should get the nod in front of gibbs and cpaul.
But of course it would be nice to watch bond attack the aussies.

Tendulkar May Play in the Super series --------- Returns to Competitive Cricket

Tendulkar returning to competitive cricket

September 17, 2005 '

It has been confirmed by former Indian spinner Sunil Joshi that Sachin Tendulkar, who in May underwent surgery on his elbow, is returning to competitive cricket next week.

Tendulkar will play in the Canara Bank Centenary Cricket Championship 2005, due to get underway on Monday. Speaking to reporters, Joshi said:

"The big news is that MRF is playing and Sachin (Tendulkar) has confirmed his participation in the tournament. This will be a good practice session for him (Tendulkar) before he goes for the Super Series," he said.

Tendulkar, who has been selected in World XI's one-day and Test squads, has been asked to confirm his availability for the Super Series by September 21. MRF's first game is on Tuesday, against Indian Airlines.

Sachin might participate , after all

yeah he is playing some local matches next week..hopefully he has recovered well. will be great to see Sachin v Warne again! :happy

I can't wait till the super series starts. I might hop along for one or two days of the super test. I am particularly looking forward to seeing Lara batting live. Hopefully he can do well.

i doubt he'll return in full flow.(tendulkar)
if he does return you just cant expect the same fight from him.
He'll take some time to get back into the rythm again.

I dont mind Sachin trying to use the Super Series to get his rhythm back! He needs to get his rhythm back and the Super Series is a golden opportunity becoz India have lot of tougher assignments ahead (Sri Lanka, South Africa, Pakistan, England)!

I want Sachin to play in the Super Series (of course, subject to how fit he is!)

I would like to see both Sachin and pieterson playing together. Both fantastic players.
