12th - Stuart MacGill.

Is my obvious pick, it will be the team im sure unless the pitch is very spinner friendly. I don't really think MacGill should have made the test team due to his economy. He takes wickets usually but jeez these are the best batsmen in the world.
I suspect MacGill will make the Test team with it being a 6 day game.

That is true. Forgot about that. I think Symonds would have been better to select, is there any reason why he isn't in the test team? hes a great batsman, great bowler who can bowl spin or medium. There isn't a lot of batting there really. I mean the bowling attack they are against are going to take wickets.

Yep, he's been consistently getting games at the SCG, though this is early in the season and the Test in Sydney is usually in January, where the season has taken it's toll and the weather dries it out (sometimes, nearby bush fire even affects it, the smoke and heat really bake the pitch). The weather in Sydney should be "nice" not too hot and the pitch will be ultra fresh, it's cultivation began immediately after the last game there in footy season.

I think it is good that Shane Watson is back in the Aus squad,
he's a top all-rounder, shame that back problems have plagued him
through-out his career, just like Michael Clarke.

Andrew Symonds should have been included in the One Day squad,
I can't think of a decent reason for leaving him out.

Hopefully Stuart MacGill will be used, especially if the pitches are dry and
dusty/crusty, having 2 spinners on pitches like that will be hard for the opposition.

I think Hayden would prefer to be left out of the One Day squad,
he's trying to get back into his opposition crushing form and that
requires time, so I don't think he'd complain in the slightest.

Just my 2cents...

I take you mean test squad. I would like to see him in there for Katich, and have Watson at 5, Symonds 6.

Sadly Sachin Tendulkar is going to miss the Super Series :(

will be interesting to see who takes his place.
inzi is not to sure.
dont know who'll make it
another thing is who'll be the vice captain of the odi side ?

symonds should've been in the ashes - they made a balls up in sri lanka dropping katich for him fresh after katto got a ton. they should've waited a bit longer. he was never going to be a subcontinent player, he doesn't have the technique, as we'll see with players like KP and AF when they arrive there. but he is damaging as all hell on flatter, bouncier pitches. but the selectors embarrassed themselves and now must wait for others to fail to get him back in.

shame, that'll never happen. how punter could've used that extra option with his offies in the last 2 tests, and solid middle order batting that is made for the inswinging ball.

watson is a never will be - he doesn't have enough pace to be a damaging bowler, nor can he swing/seam it - KP took him to pieces in the one dayers....infact watson always seems to get taken to peices when he plays for the aussies. his batting seems extremely average as well. the aussies selectors are in panic mode to get a flintoff type player - unfortunately watson is the best we've got, and unfortunately, he sux.

Marto will be back after we lose the first couple of tests to the windies. just in time for the first test against the SAfricans at the WACA.

Watson I suspsect will only be used as a 5th bowling option when the other bowlers get tired, or we need to break a long partnership. His batting alone warrants a place in the side

Well just seen the times for the games in GMT. 1.30AM starts in the test 5.30AM starts in the ODIs if anyone is interested. That was in the Skysports TV guide so that would probably be the programme start time.

Latest news is that Inzamam-ul-Haq will be in the World XI squad.

"I have just been told by the board to give my confirmation for the Super Series," Inzamam said. "I am available to play because it is a big honor to play alongside the world's best."
