ICC World T20 Bangladesh 2014

English team is weakest this time. Thanks to bowlers like Dernbach.

I would still say Bangladesh. Reminds of India through the 90s, who thought they were the best team in the world, but flopped at every opportunity.

Atleast India won at home even then, can't say the same for B'desh

Australia out of the T 20 World Cup 2014...
Shame to the Aussies who were winning continuously from past 4-5 months. :spy

A great morale boasting win for Pakistan. Now they have to beat WI to get a place in the semi final, a lot easier said than done.

On a side note, what is Ravi Shastri's problem with Pakistan. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but he is always biased and puts down Pakistan. Ridiculously frustrating to watch his boring commentary of the same monotonous tone throughout the match and as soon as the India match is on, he is all bubbly and excited. Have a proper hatred of that man. Wish there were more commentators like Harsha Bogle and Danny Morrison

Think you're alone there!

The ICC have this habit of picking some of the worst commentators - Nick Knight, Bogle, Morrison... All they need to do is get Mark Nicholas and it'd be unwatchable!

Pathetic from Bangladesh, really feel pity for their die hard fans. Worst batting display and worst bowling display. Being at home theh should and must play better

India team in the 90's was poor but even that team would fair better then BD today. Following Indian team from the 90's would still out play BD:

1. S. Gangully
2. Sachin Tendulkar
3. R. Dravid
4. Muhammad Azharuddin (or VVS Luxman)
5. Ajay Jadeja
6. Robin Singh
7. N. Mongia
8. Harbhajan Singh (or Ajit Agarkar)
9. Anil Kumble
10. J. Srinath
11. V. Prasad

& these guys were fun to watch, unlike BD players.

They are just out of form. Plus they are a hell of a lot of youngsters on the team.

Either way , just keep Ravi Shastri away from commentary.

LOL, yeah you say that like you know each and every word that a WIan player ever said.

Get your facts right, Bravo or Pollard said this around 2008 - 2010, when they regularly turned down WI commitments to play in the IPL. They regularly skipped WI matches and turned out in the IPL and even went to the extent of turning down central WI contracts so that they would be free to play in the IPL.

From the Cricinfo website on Dwayne Bravo "Profile" Dwayne Bravo | Cricket Players and Officials | ESPN Cricinfo-

Of course the exact quote I can't be bothered to look up, but their conduct is more than enough proof you need of their preference for IPL over WI. So do look up facts before just saying stuff. Back things up with logic or failing that - with facts.

Haa right so you counter my so called lack of facts - but counter it with lack of facts? Good one.

I never said i know what every windies player says, however I don't recall them ever making such a statement in the media, which essentially paints a picture that they are mercenaries.

Although Bravo & Pollard, regularly skipped WI duty for IPL duty - they never said they as the poster said that they like playing for T & T first, IPL second & windies third. Show some article in the media in which they said that in the past?

One of the big reasons for the players skipping windies duty was because of the constant player strikes due to pay issues between the WICB (we see this a lot with Sri Lanka board & their players of late). And the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) who represents the windies players was always at logger heads with the WICB, tended to encourage to seek the financial security of the IPL & other leagues with the pay issues so problematic.

Even recently Chris Gayle spoke out on this issue West Indies news : Chris Gayle hurt by 'mercenary' tag | Cricket News | West Indies v England | ESPN Cricinfo

The Indian side of the 90s had some real quality players who never could click as a team. Some of them were really enigmatic. Can`t say Bangladesh today has anyone near the quality of Tendulkar, Ganguly, Dravid or Azharuddin. Srinath was no slouch either.

Bangladesh lack in quality for sure.

I remember Gayle once claiming that he preferred T20 over Test matches and that he doesnt see him playing Tests for very long

I think it was either during Windies 2009 tour to ENG, when due to ridiculous scheduling which saw them have to tour ENG have after beating ENG in a test series - Gayle had to cut short his IPL season to be with the windies team.

He then made a passing comment about he wished test cricket in frustration, but he later backtracked on the comment - Gayle backtracks on captaincy comments | Cricket News | England v West Indies 2009 | ESPN Cricinfo

It is just painful to see Yuvraj batting this way. 10 runs from 17 balls and can't even put balls away which are fired at his pads.

Yeah I meant more the team pre- Ganguly and Dravid ... when Sidhu and Venkatpathy raju and Rajesh Chauhan, Prabhakar and all were in the team. Ganguly and Dravid became regulars much later in think 97 and 98 onwards. Mostly through the 90s India were poor.

Having said that I agree they were better to watch than the BD team.

Lack of facts !!

So that Bravo and Pollard have regularly in the past skipped WI duty in favor of playing in the IPL, and that too the names of the series' they have missed is not FACTS !!

Good one !! (or not !!)

Quite clear as day light that in the period I am talking about they DID prefer playing in the IPL to playing for WI. Further, I did read one of them saying that thet prefer playing in the IPL over the WI. Now if you think I am going to scour the internet looking for that one newpaper interview and that one line just to convince you either way, then you clearly need to calm down, and take a deep breath. I have said they said it, and it is backed by their conduct, in actually ditching WI for IPL. However the quote is not there. Oh right you remind of a guy who has seen too many TV shows, where characters are killed off and then brought back at a whim. Forget all the evidence and all logic, don't believe anything till you see the body, in this instance the quote, no matter how many other things back the argument. Don't believe anything till you see the body and maybe not ever after that.

Actually no you are totally right Bravo and Pollard in that period totally loved playing for the West Indies, and preferred to play for the WI more than playing for their IPL teams, and that is why whenever there was a conflict, between WI and IPL, they chose to play for ... wait for it ... their IPL teams :D Hats off to you !!
