AUS selectors have named a perfect squad here. Unless the other squad come real good (possibly S Africa), already i'd say this is the best squad, that could well dethrone Windies as T20 Champions.

Been very impressive with T20 talent AUS have ATM during this years bigbash. Other potential lethal players in this T20 format like Marsh Brothers, Dunk, Smith, Maddinson O'Keefe, Lynn, Wade, Cutting, Simmons, Pattinson, Henriques, Richardson, Bollinger all have missed out...

Was around the corner to post this thread today after India announce their squad. Anyway very well done on the first post.

Big bash talent headed up and Aussie has announced a nice squad. Great to see them that they think Haddin, Hogg and Hodge still can play better T20. Yeah! Probably. The squad is sub-continent situations friendly. Bailey & Faulkner has played their best sub-continent cricket recently in India in ODI series. While Aaron Finch is one of the best TT player and also played pretty well in last IPL season along with Brad Hodge, Maxwell, Johnson and Coulte-Nile. Also Watson, White has bunch of experience of playing against the spin and on sub-continent pitches. Hopefully they have finished with the best squad.

I don't think England will do much better than finishing last in group. Players who can perform better for them are Bopara, Wright, Hales and Tredwell. Broad can bowl on sub-continent tracks a bit well. Rest is unexperienced squad. Unknown to these pitches. I'm still wondering what Dernbach doing there who is economically higher in limited overs format and one who wins for opponent teams in all sub-continent conditions.

If you are an off-spinner look away now Look at all those right handers! Every batter bar Warner is right handed until you get down to Starc/Johnson. In that way was a bit surprised not to see Shaun Marsh there. He's just used the Big Bash to play his way into the Test team, yet not the T20 team He kills it every IPL as well, so conditions suit him. I want to know how they'll use Cameron White because Warner, Finch, White, Watson could all open. Add to that logjam...I think Maxwell is best used early from overs 6-10 to keep attacking when other teams might take their foot off a smidge, and he can particularly spook spinners a bit (Maxwell's range of shots makes setting a field very hard - tough to settle). Makes the batting order difficult.

Steve Smith was a guy I thought might be handy in this squad. Has played well in Asia before and played nicely in BBL - plays in middle order too unlike most of the batters picked. Hard to find a spot for everyone though eg. Christian's dinky mediums have a deserved place as well.

Bowling seems right. 4 pace, 2 spin. Starc as #1 choice IMHO - he's got a great T20 record. And I say Hoggy has to play, and I hope they aren't scared to play him and Maxwell together, even though they turn the ball the same way.

Vinay Kumar is one name I thought would be in there. I think the last T20 India played was vs Australia back in October, and Vinay Kumar had the best figures. He got spanked in one of the ODIs after that, but EVERY bowler got spanked in that series...

Mohit Sharma had a good IPL but that was almost 12 months ago - CSK bias again?

You might be right! It seems every Indian fan has their views on who the fast bowlers should be. Anyone but Ishant seems to be popular I don't think Vinay Kumar is fantastic either from what I've seen...I just thought India might be willing to stick with him for a little longer given his last T20I and the bunch of wickets he took in the last IPL.

Good that the Indian selectors retained Yuvraj Singh for the T20's. Its sad that he has now been relegated to a T20 specialist, but if that helps him prolong his career, so be it. Yuvraj and Raina can do really well in T20's, more so this tournament which is held in the subcontinent. Pretty straightforward team selection otherwise!

Can't really complain about the squad good mix of players. Hodge experience down the order will be very useful as he showed in the BBL final which is probably needed since our side is prone to collapses.
