Not excited about the final at all. Historically two weak test teams, never had long runs topping the rankings like the AUS/WI or even the stromg SA/Eng teams. Seems the intent of this championship is to christen India as the inaugural winners. They are in charge of the game and this is how they leaving their legacy!

LoL. Gotta love your enthusiasm mate. It's like a punching bag no matter how many blows it takes, always manage to stand tall.

I understand that, but this is just the first edition of the tournament. As time progresses, the winners will also change which will reflect the performances of the teams over time.
Also, why do you want the historically good teams to play the final? Just treat it as the tournament for the last 2 years just like the world cup

Thats the beauty of test cricket a single team shouldn't be defined as champions by one match or even one series. Not even over two years! I used the historically teams as an example to show how meaningless and sub standard this tournament is. In fairness test cricket quality across the board is the lowest it has ever been!

The final is what Ind vs NZ, not sure if its confirmed. Scanning through both teams the only genuine, talented and world class test players is Kane and Virat!

I'd like to point out that no Test team in the last five, even ten years has had a run like that...

Pretty unfair thing to say when you have a Pujara and a Latham who always stood up when the former failed. Infact Virat Kohli-post 2018 is behind the other 3 names mentioned.

Waiting for this heroic clash! Kohli will give his 100%, same as Kane. Both are desperate for winning an ICC event. They will go directly to the record books, if they create history. Taylor & Pant will be the triumph card. ;)

Neither Pujara nor Latham would figure in most all time test teams from either country!

It amazes me how you all put down Virat, since 2018 huh, how many test matches have been played since then, i guessing not match with pandemic! So you are being unfair!

Exactly. What is with ICC helping BCCI reach finals in the inaugural championships. We saw that back in 2007 for the T20 world cup and now history repeating with India who were the best team in the last 2 and half years (playing mostly away) reaching finals. Shameless from ICC I say :p

A total of 15 Test matches averaging 55.5 out of which 9 were at home. In the same period he played 6 away Tests( 2 in WI, 2 in Aus & 2 in NZ) averaging only 25!!!

And not too sure why someone like Latham can't make it to New Zealand's all-time team when he is already in NZ's top 10 all-time run-scorers. Amongst all openers who have played 50 Test matches or more Latham features in top 25 already.

Pujara have won India back-to-back Test series in Australia which was a dream for any Indian upto 2018. Even though Pujara wasn't top run-scorer in 2020-21, he batted close to 50 hours in a 4-Test series which is an incredible achievement in any country and this guy have done that in Australia!!!!

I dont have the time yet to do a full analysis but what was Virat’s avg of 25 compared to the other batsmen? Did the entire team performed poorly?

Those 6 tests away, very harsh to judge from and its always difficult for touring batsmen in both Australia and NZ. Vitrat had been the most consistent batsman in the world for well over a decade. Really dont know why you Indians hate the guy is it because you know deep down that he is better than Sachin was, even in his prime!
