India vs UAE

India play Gambhir, Sehwag, Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Chawla, Harbhajan, RP Singh, Munaf.

UAE won the toss and put India in to bat who notched up a huge score.

In reply, UAE were bowled out for 208. Chawla and Munaf got some hammer but they'll get another game before the 'big' games.

India vs Ireland

RP Singh and Harbhajan Singh are rested in favour of Malhotra and Malvi.

India won the toss, batted first and once again put up a huge score on the board.

In reply, Ireland were bowled out for 136 with Chawla picking up four wickets for 8 runs.

India vs Bangladesh

If India win this, they qualify for the Quarter Final. RP Singh is brought back for Malhotra and Harbhajan for Malvi.

India won the toss and batted first. Sehwag got his third consecutive century, but India ended up getting much less than they would have liked.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 200.

India vs Australia

The next match is the big game against Australia. The pitch looked like it would take turn and India decided to go with two spinners.

Australia won the toss, batted first and put up 277 on the board.

In reply, India got off to a steady start reaching 134/0 at the halfway stage. Sehwag was bowled by Siddle with the score at 178 in the 32nd over. Despite some hiccups, India eventually reached the target.

India vs England

India play the same 11 against England, win the toss, bat first and put on a decent score.

India now have 5 wins from 5 matches and play the West Indies before going on to the knock out stages.

India face their first defeat of the World Cup against the West Indies in the final group game.

Knock Out Stages

India vs New Zealand

On a pitch that is taking turn, New Zealand win the toss and bat first. But thanks to some excellent bowling by Harbhajan Singh, they were restricted to 211 which India were able to chase down despite some hiccups.

In other quarter finals, Australia beat Pakistan, West Indies beat South Africa and England beat Sri Lanka.

Semi Final: India vs West Indies

West Indies won the toss and batted first, putting on 254/8 in their 50 overs.

In reply, India looked very comfortable at one stage, thanks to Sehwag's explosive century. But a middle order collapse meant that 8 wickets were lost before India stumbled across the finishing line.

World Cup Final
India vs Australia, a repeat of the 2003 final. This time, Australia won the toss and elected to field. They picked up three early wickets and had India in real trouble at 25/3. But Sachin Tendulkar (95) and VVS Laxman (50) took India close to the 250 mark.

In reply, the Australian openers put on 101 and the game looked to be over. Sehwag picked up two wickets in one over and India smelt an opening. However, a 67 run stand between Pomersback and Hussey seemed to have taken the game away from India, but some brilliant bowling by Chawla as well as Munaf Patel and RP Singh at the death won the world cup for India.

India's next two series are tours to England and South Africa. Victory in the test and ODI series there would move India to the top of the ranking table. Sachin Tendulkar is retained as captain and Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman stay on for the present.

India in England

The tour games against Kent and the MCC provided the Indian players with an opportunity to acclamatise themselves to the conditions in England. Dravid, Laxman and Gambhir all got big hundreds and Malhotra seemed to be enjoying the English conditions.

Meanwhile, Australia lost the test series in the West Indies and India became the top ranked test team in the world. As befits the top team, they breezed through the first test at Lords winning by 10 wickets.

The second test at Headingly followed a similar pattern until rain disrupted play on the final day. India went into the final test at the Oval needing only a draw to win the series. India batted first and put 530 runs on the board. Panesar's six wicket haul gave the Indian spinners hope. India were on top after that and England just about managed to save the game on the final day.

India in South Africa

India won the ODI series 3-2 and now head to South Africa already No.1 in test cricket and hoping to attain the same status in one day cricket too.

A 2-1 test series victory in South Africa and a victory in the ODI series by the same score propels India to No.1 in both forms of the game. Soon after this is achieved, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman announce their retirement from international cricket.

I just read through this story... I should say as, a very good start to the story.. but squads do look as fantasy .. Laxman playing still in ODIs ;) May be, the storyline could have been framed in bit better way. Never mind, good start to the story... Keep it up :thumbs

India in Sri Lanka

Virender Sehwag is appointed captain after Tendulkar's retirement. His retirement along with Dravid and Laxman's have left holes in the batting line up too.

Sehwag and Gambhir will open with Badrinath at No.3. For the first test, India went with Robin Uthappa, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma. India cruised through the test series winning 2-0 thanks to some excellent spin bowling by Chawla and Harbhajan. Raina scored a hundred, Uthappa scored a fifty but Sharma failed to perform.
