sohummisra said:Badani won't be selected anytime soon because there are players who have performed on par with him (or exceeded him) in the domestic circuit and also because he has made multiple appearances in the international team without looking really special.
Ganguly looking good with another half-century--a 69 not out so far.

According to my opinion, Badani didnt look a special talent! With the pool of talent that India has, the upcoming players need to be possess something special to break in! But once they break in and get good support, even if they deteriorate, they stay in! Thats the problem that Indian cricket faces!
Indiangod said:Kaif is a brilliant match-winning batsmen, he played well in the videocon cup in Zimbabwe last year and saved India from 2 near defeats in the group stages. Kaif also played well in the final, since the videocon cup Kaif has been consistant and he is easily one of Indias best fielders.
sohummisra said:There were catches in the Sri Lanka series that I don't see too many other players in the Indian team taking, apart from Kaif. Kaif totalled 5 catches in the one game he played--most of them at silly point and forward short leg.
Rhodes and Ponting wouldn't make it to their respective teams on merit of fielding only because the overall level of fielding is high. There are many others in the Australian team (Symonds for example) that are miles better at fielding than most of the Indian team. A struggling fielding team like India need a Kaif in their team, if purely because of fielding, because he does often perform with the bat.
One dropped catch can cost the match. Gambhir is the only replacement for Kaif in that area--Chopra is not even in the radar. That's like saying bring Robin Singh back into the team--you gotta keep some context. It's not like Kaif has stalled the momentum of the team and never delivered. The Badani's and Mongia's have always performed in the domestic circuit--but what happens when you give them the international cap? They fail to make a remarkable contribution. Kaif has won games for India, he is the best fielder (by far) in the current Indian team, and he knows how to run between wickets. I just hope that India aren't put too far back in the fielding department against Pakistan, in the test series.ronny_kingsley said:Then bring back AKASH CHOPRA in the test side cos there has been nobody like him in the recent times in any team for close in positions.
Also it is not like Kaif is the only good fielder in the Indian team. Yuvraj,Agarkar,Raina are really good for thier positions on the field.
Also the Badani's,and the Mongia's are not too far from Kaif in the fielding dept. but Kaif seems to be lagging behind these guys.
It would be absolutely wrong to comment that Badani has failed miserably in Intl. cricket.sohummisra said:The Badani's and Mongia's have always performed in the domestic circuit--but what happens when you give them the international cap? They fail to make a remarkable contribution.
Yes, and that's why no one made that comment.aditya123 said:It would be absolutely wrong to comment that Badani has failed miserably in Intl. cricket.
So is the practice match being started tomorrow, or a day late, on the 8th?ZexyZahid said:Allright, India has arrived now in Pakistan in Lahore. Apart from the players who were playing for their domestic teams.
