India in the West Indies

Considering that the highest scorer was Raina (50) did the other batsmen retire(as they do in these matches)?Or, did everyone get in and get out?
Can anyone post the scorecard?

Yes, it was a team effort.Raina retired.Typical Dhoni innings.Good bowling performance by the Indian frontline bowlers but barring Yuvraj the 5th bowler might be an issue in the coming odi's.

I think Sehwag and Yuvi will form the 5th bowling option. That is one area they want to consider, before the world cup. Its important to have players who can fit into any role, depending on the situation.

This series has come faster than i expected...and the game's on tomorrow! Can't wait for that to start.

After seeing the probable lineup those two will definitely have to make up the 10 overs. Yuvi was quite handy in the warm up match and Sehwag is handy. They could always take 5 bowlers though as Pathan is an all rounder basically.

I think the West Indies has a decent Test batting line-up with Lara, Chanderpaul, Gayle, and Sarwan. The new Indian Pace Attack will have to get these guys out twice, and that too cheaply, to win the Tests. Tall order, I say.
I don't know how Kumble has done in the West Indies.
Edwards and Taylor aren't Ambrose and Walsh, but bowl regularly above 90 Mph.
That will be a tough test for Sehwag, Jaffer, and Yuvraj. If they do well here, then they will earn their spurs as International Test Batsmen.
Don't need to say anything about Dravid and Tendlya. Been there, done that, a 1000 times.
On a sidenote I can't believe Agarkar is in the ODI squad. What does he have, that makes him unputdownable? Freaking Unbelievable!!!

Hopefully Chanderpaul can continue his improvement in form since stepping down as captain. Whilst on paper the Windies team has talent, it is their ability over whole matches to function as a successful unit that keeps plagueing them.

To be honest I don't believe performing well against the Windies pace attack will earn any spurs for the India batsman, but I would go as far as to say that if the Windies pace attack performs well it will go a fair way towards earning them their spurs as international bowlers.

Personally I am hoping that the lack of pressure on the Windies to succeed being underdogs will see them perform to their potential and begin their rise from the doldrums, but I must admit to envisaging a comfortable Indian victory in both the One dayers and the test series. Unless Lara, Chanders, Sarwan and Gayle all perform superbly, and the Windies bowling attack that has lacked the ability to take 20 wickets in a match all mature into world class bowlers, I believe India will triumph relatively easily.

Well he is the most experienced of the quicks we have now. He has improved a lot these days and it was evident with the pace and swing he generated in Abu Dhabi against Pakistan. 144 kph, anyone?

Also Agarkar has the best ODI bowling figures by a quick for India when you take their last 50 ODIs. He has two 5 wkt hauls in this period. Sreesanth has 1.

I would replace Ajit with Zaheer for the tests.

243 ODI wickets ,Lusty blows down the order and the best outfielder India has.

What more does he need to be in the team ??????

Let me guess below standard fitness ,sheepish batting, poor fielding and yes lethargicity which Zaheer brings with him.

Where's Tendlya by the way ?
He's not even sure of his place in the squad for the tests.

Regd Agarkar...
He's not that bad.
Atleast better than Zaheer khan.

Well Agarkar has good experience!!!
If i am right, australian tour brought him the name "highest wicket taker of the series" in test ,is his last best performance abroad!!!!
He is quite handy with bat in ODIs....so i think its not a suprise!!!!
Well always tough competition exists for the players like Zaheer,Balaji,Ajit and others to enter the team now as the youth is firing for the moment!!!! ;)

Match unlikely due to heavy rain

Heavy overnight rain and downpours this morning have virtually ruled out any possibility of play in the first one-day international between India and the West Indies at Sabina Park in Kingston today.

Scattered but heavy showers are forecast all over Jamaica till Monday. This casts doubt on the second one-dayer too to be held at the same venue on Saturday.

Cortesy : Cricinfo

Play will start though it will be delayed.Last heard, the umpires will have an inspection at 9:30am(local time). The umpirers did say that play could start an hour later IF the rain stayed
away.

Play will start at 15:30 GMT but the match has been reduced to 45 overs a side.

We are seeing the benefits of the world cup with these new grounds and facilities. Had this been the old Sabina, the ground would never have dried up.

West Indies are off to a flyer
