India in the West Indies

Windies are fighting back through Collins but they got a long way to go to have any chance in this game. Sehwag has basically set the game up for India.

Damn it! Now my gut feeling has let India down!! Anyway, India should try to get 500+ here. If Kaif and Dravid get a decent partnership, Dhoni and Pathan can come in later and blast the ball.

not really. Dravid's still there, Kaif's looking good. The pitch isn't doing much, and you've got Dhoni and Pathan to come.

India will get to 360-370 by the end of day 1 and if they can play until tea, get a score of 550+, they will have better chances of winning.

I think Bhajji will be missed again.

Wow, nice from Sehwag. India looking strong, need to keep it up tomorrow morning though.

Great innings from Our 'Monk'! Answering his critics in fine style! Should have been a treat watching him bat like that!

Dravid is batting a bit more faster, aint it? A strike rate of 60.12 shows that he is batting far more faster than normal (of his standards). Didnt follow the game after Sehwag's dismissal, but India have put themselves in a very good position. Our batting is now blostered by the comeback of Pathan and we still have our superstar 'Dhoni' who is waiting to come next!

if we can get to 500 odd or may be even more (at the cost of faster scoring), we should tighten the noose around the Windies. The rough patches on the pitch should help Kumble, and Pathan can look to use the greenery to some effect! I am sure our bowlers can take better advantage of any help that is available from the wicket!

Tomorrow should be exciting. But the Windies wont feel as if they are out of this game! Yuvraj and Laxman's failure has reduced their embarassement a bit!

Maybe a bit off-topic, but are people in India following this match or mainly the World Cup matches?

This is a good peformance by India, but they can't collapse tommorow. They must score at least 500 and bowl well. But this pitch does look very rough and bowler friendly.

was that meant to be a typo? "bowler friendly" or "batter friendly"?

I dont think football is even as popular as cricket is (IN INDIA), and with this tour of west indies producing thrilling finishes, i think the indian public must be onto cricket!

ok guys was at the grounds today. First thing, the pitch with the tinge of green all over is fooling anyone right now. There is no sideways movement. Its like the curator Mr. Crafton jus stuck grass at the top. The appearance of this pitch looks horrible. Nonetheless, I was glad to see "monk" hit a magnificient 180, certainly blitzed the windies!!! Watched every ball of it...My home ground has a few batting records, like the inagural test where Lara has the highest on this ground of 209 agianst Sri Lanka in 2003, was almost eclipsed by Virender today. India in a wonderful position, and my home boys can only hope that they can get 2 batsmen to score big when its time for us to bat. All in all, its india for now...THe rain fell heavily this afternoon, at the close of play. However chances are that they may resume play a bit late depending on the outfield. Weather seems fine though, but don't know if overnight showers can have a main say here...

It was a treat to watch Sehwag play the way he used to play. He looked good for 200+ unfortunately got a good raising ball form Pedro Collins. It is just a guess but it could be the team management until now could have been asking Sehwag to play somewhat like a normal opener. This could have cramped his style which could have contributed to some of his slump. May be finally they let him play his natural game.

While watching the game I felt that West Indies were taking things a bit lightly. The seem to be more concerned about the Soccer game between Trinidad and Sweden not too bothered about the hammering they were getting from Sehwag. Also I could not understand why Sarwan was bowling that much. He neither seem to control the flow of runs nor looked like taking a wicket. If it was to speed up the over rate to finish the quota of overs, Gayle would have been a better option.

Well, now he is out...
Beh, the Monk just wanted to give Yuvi a bat. Or maybe Adarsh jinxed him....
Obviously the Monk didn't want ALL the limelight. He doesn't need all the limelight.

I'm not sure which end Sarwan was bowling from, but I feel there were two reasons that he was bowled: to pitch it in the green areas of the pitch and because he would be harder to get away. As you saw, the Monk had to go inside-out to get Sarwan away, which is much harder than, say, hitting the ball straight down the ground for six.

361 at end is good, dravid with 95, another century would be great.
India now needs to go all out attack and reach 550+ and try give their bowlers time to gey WI all out.

I think the pitch has fooled everyone out there with its outward looks.. A spinner would be better on such pitches. India miss Harbhajan again, and West Indies this time will miss Mohammed (even though he isnt a great spinner)

Yes.. May be a bit faster scoring rate tomorrow in all sessions that india bat will help them get to 550 closer...

pitche the great deciver......

oh well, India wouldn't miss a spinner that much as would WI.The have sehwag, yuvraj.these have developed themselves quite a lot from part time spinners.

Imagine that what would happen to WI is pitch detoriates till 5th day.India can't lose if they get 550+

This game looks like it will go to another draw. All the talk about green is rubbish and like the other 2 matches on this pitch we are going to see a high scoring draw if the Windies bat well.
