Pakistan take lead in the Chennai test

Well, India and Pakistan are fighting it out really hard at Chennai in the second test of the series. India started off the morning of Day 3 on 230/4 with Laxman and Tendulkar on 53 and 85 respectively. Laxman was the first to go, stumped by Akmal off Salman Butt when he charged down the pitch to see the ball missing his bat and Akmal did no mistake. VVS Laxman was out for a well made 55

Due to the Line Up bug and since I forgot to edit the lineup with the Line up editor, M Kartik was batting there in place of MS Dhoni. So effectively it was Dhoni batting. I didnt want to spoil this test as this is an exciting test match and I didnt have a copy of any other save file. M Kartik (Dhoni) was out, bowled by Salman Butt for 1 (India 259/6). To be fair to the Pakistan and their supporters, I will not bowl M Kartik since he is a specialist spinner and this track is a dusty track!

By then, Sachin Tendulkar was stroking the ball fluently and he reached his second hundred of the series in fine style by straight driving Navad Ul Hasan for four

Pakistan lead by 5 runs!

Next to go was Pathan when he tried to straight drive a ball but was rapped on the pads to a delivery from Ul Hasan and was LBW for 8 (India 270/7)

Anil Kumble came in and gave some support to Tendulkar before his impatience got the better of him. He charged down the pitch and was stumped by Akmal off Salman Butt for 7 (285/8)

Tendulkar at the other end was unperturbed and was stroking the ball very well. Harbhajan Singh tried to advance down the wicket to avoid a full delivery from Salman Butt was bowled in the process for 9 (India 299/9)

Zaheer Khan came in next and hit a lofted four in the covers and played some lofted shots which fell short of the fielders. He and Tendulkar took India close to Pakistan's first innings total before he tried to leave a straight delivery from Abdur Razzaq thinking it would go down the leg side but was rapped on his pads to be adjudged LBW for 12 (India 323 a/o)

Sachin Tendulkar remained not out on a brilliant 120. His innings was absolutely excellent with those straight drives flowing to the boundary.

India finish their first innings on 323 a/o, giving Pakistan an almost nothing lead of 5 runs. But Pakistan will be happy with it as they were outplayed in the first test and have come back strongly to take some sort of a lead against India. Salman Butt was the surprising choice ahead of Danish Kaneria in this test and he delivered big time, picking up 4 wickets for 25 runs. Ul Hasan picked up 3 wickets and Malik and Afridi bowled tight in the innings. The only blemish was Md.Sami who went for 98 runs off his 14 overs. Pakistan will resume their second innings 5 runs ahead. Stay tuned!

India 328 a/o | S Tendulkar 120* | VVS Laxman 55 | Salman Butt 4/25
Pakistan 0/0 (2nd innings)

Pakistan need to work hard and make atleast 330

Lets wait and see. Already Kumble and Harbhajan are smiling big at the sight of Malik, Afridi and Butt turning the ball on this track. Both Kumble and Bhajji could be a handful for Pakistan! Anywayz, all are speculation. On with their second innings.

AT LUNCH ON DAY 3: Pakistan are 9/0 and are ahead by 14 runs. Both batsman are yet to score and they were helped by MS Dhoni who missed a Kumble turner and it went just on the boundary and stopped on the rope and due to EA's bug, the batsmen ran 8 runs. And another run was a wide from Pathan. Pathan and Kumble are opening the attack for India!

Wow!! Pakistan is in a good position here. That patch must work pretty good since you thrashed Pakistan in the first match. It only worries me more against WI in my thread. :(

Either way, it should be fun and good luck against Pakistan.

Pakistan have reached 85/4 in their second innings, extending their lead to 90 runs. They could have been in more trouble had Dhoni not missed an easy stumping of Younis Khan (Yasir Hameed; damn that line up bug!). Youhana and Younis Khan are now at the crease and Pakistan hope they can remain in there. As usual, Inzamam did most of the scoring for Pakistan with a fine 46 but he couldnt stay longer as he made the usual mistake of charging down the wicket to a spinner and was stumped.

None of the top order Pakistani batsmen are intent on staying at the crease and scoring runs. They just padded each delivery and the Indian bowlers were not fools to just keep bowling to them the same line and see every ball defended. Kumble got Butt stumped when he too charged early in the innings.

Kumble then bowled a ripping leg break to remove the stumps of Shoaib Malik who has had a nightmare with the bat in this match!

Now everything rests on Youhana and Younis Khan (Yasir Hameed) to take Pakistan to a good position. Any target above 250 would be great for them to defend as this wicket is taking more and more turn as it progresses!

Pakistan 85/4 | Inzamam 46 | Youhana 16*

Yes. And also a lot of missed chances happen. But one thing is, most of the CPU wickets are of stumpings when they charge a spinner and are stumped. Well settled batsmen fall this way always! This is irking me and I informed Tutsi but he says he cant do much about it as advance shot is part of cpu aggression.

Huh!! I didn't get a single stumping with my three spinners. Infact, most of the Windies batsmen never came down the pitch to hit a ball. It was a rare sight for me. I really have yet to find a bug in this patch, except that every so often the CPU takes a double where there isn't one and gets runout, might be a game bug though. Another one is that the number byes with fast bowlers (when CPU is bowling) are much higher than they used to be. Still an awesome patch, having a lot of fun with it.

Actually about to post results for Day 3.

Really? May be I should try installing the patch on a fresh GOB file and test it.

hmm...some how I dont get that stumping either....
last time cpu got out like that was atleast 15+ test matches ago...
so I always find it very hard to take wickets from spinners...

nice series though...
still looking for whitewash :D

still a whitewash is quite possible. lets see.

Pakistan are 130/4 now with Youhana on 36* and Younis Khan (Yasir) on 23*

Pakistan hold slight advantage at the End of Day 3

If you guys dont know who Tutsi is, better know him soon! His patch is working like a dream for me. I started playing with it on my Desktop and loved it. Then since my laptop provided me portability, I switched playing with it on my laptop and did not yield good results. Now I am back to my Desktop and it again works like a dream! His Beta-4 patch is the best one for test matches but the thing is, it works differently on different systems. Anywayz, over with the praise on Tutsi and back to the exciting Chennai test!

Pakistan hold slight advantage on Day 3

Pakistan 205/5 | Youhana 96* | Inzamam 46 | Younis Khan 35

Pakistan end Day 3 on a confident 205/5, extending their lead to 210. They started off poorly as usual with the first 4 wickets falling for 85 including Inzamam who made a fine 46. When they were in danger of a big collapse, Youhana and Younis Khan (Yasir Hameed at start!) ressurected their whole innings and have placed them in a good position. They scored 120 runs in the final session to wrest back the initiative from the Indian bowlers. Younis Khan was out 4 overs before tea and then Razzaq and Youhana guided Pakistan through Day 3. Youhana is not out on 96* and Razzaq is not out on 6*.

Youhana was breathtaking in his innings of 96. Once he got his eye in, there was no stopping of him as he carted the Indian bowlers all round the park. He had his chances when a stumping of his was missed and LBW appeal was turned down but he was simply amazing in his innings!! He has been brilliant in this match and Pakistan will really hope both his innings end in a win for them! Younis Khan was refreshingly sedate and at the same time aggressive. Once he reached his 20's, he started taking risks and sped towards 35 before an ill fated advance shot got the better of him and he was bowled by Harbhajan.

The Indian bowlers lacked discpline in the later stages of the day when Youhana carted them around. Their field placing was above average but their bowlers bowled the wrong line to deny them early wickets. This wicket is fast becoming a spinner's heaven and India would do well to remember what Malik, Afridi and a part timer like Butt did to them in the 1st innings! But nothing is yet lost fot them. For those who thought this match would almost be decided on Day 3 (including me!) should be astounded by what happened today! I sincerely hope its not a thriller (though many here would love it!) because in pressure situations, India (me) tend to screw up!! So, hopefully India can take early wickets tomorrow and get a feasible target to chase. Pakistan would hope to get a lead of 300+. If they get it, I think they stand in with the best chance of winning this one and moving to Kolkatta 1-1.

Note: From Day 3 onwards, the match is going to be telecasted also on Sky Sports. Over to Sky Sports telecast from now on (The thing is, I am testing Ste's Sky Sports graphics and I like it a lot!)

Rival bidders for the TV rights for the series? Must be entertaining stuff. :D

Good recovery there by Pakistan from 85 / 4. You'll do well to peg this one back. I think SKY may have arrived at the right time :D

Hmm. yes, Sky Sports have bid and have won the telecast from ESPN.

Entertaining for sure. I dont know how Day 4 would be. I thought this would be decided on Day 3. Now I am not going to make any assumptions! And Sky has not arrived at the right time so far. Becoz when they arrived, Pakistan were 97/4 and was down he dumps. They recovered when Sky was on and now are 205/5
