SECOND TEST @ CHENNAI - Match Report, Presentation
MATCH REPORT
Pakistan have won the thrilling Chennai test by 5 runs. On Day 5, India started off 78 runs behind the target with 5 wickets in hand and certainly positioned themselves to win. But Pakistan had other plans. In what was a dramatic turnaround, Pakistan picked up the last 5 wickets for 72 runs to be victorious by 5 runs.
This match has seen many a great performances. Starting with the Pakistani first innings, Inzamam scored a brilliant 100 when the top order failed to build runs. Youhana ably supported him and they along with the lower order took Pakistan to 328. Coming to the Indian first innings, India did well to go about their task of overtaking 328 with Sachin Tendulkar scoring an excellent century aided by Dravid, Laxman. India fell short of 5 runs of the Pakistan total.
Pakistan started off their second innings 5 runs ahead and once again when the top order failed, Inzamam came to their rescue with a fine 46. Then Youhana and others took lead and Youhana came up with a brilliant 161 which should probably win him the Man of the Match! Pakistan set India a target of 321 to win
India started off their chase well but lost wickets at regular intervals. Then Sachin and Ganguly built a partnership that was dangerously taking the match away from Pakistan when ganguly was out. Laxman and Tendulkar played well until the big wicket of Tendulkar fell. Rest as you say, was history as Pakistan fought their mental pressure and India to win this contest!!

PRESENTATION CEREMONY:
Shastri: Welcome to the presentation ceremony of what has been a terrific thriller associated with an India-Pakistan clash. Pakistan have won by a narrow 5 run margin and move to Kolkatta 1-1. To start with, I would like to call the Indian captain Ganguly first! Sorry Ganguly, you must be really disappointed with this defeat!
Saurav (with a dejected look!): Yes, we are disappointed with this defeat. But we fought really hard. Its just that Pakistan were able to hold on to their pressure and they eventually won! We had a lot of positives from this match and this match if not for a few wickets, would have been ours.
Shastri: What was the gameplan when you started Day 5?
Ganguly: We were planning to defend the spinners and attack the fast bowlers and finish the game in the first session. But when Laks was out early, we decided to stay at the crease and go slow. We almost did it but we couldnt finish it off.
Shastri: Thanks Saurav. All the best for Kolkatta. Now I would like to call upon Inzamam Ul Haq to receive the winning cheque of Rs.50,000 from the Chennai Chief Minister, Jayalalitha. So Inzy, you will be very happy with the win!!
Inzamam: Yes. We are very thrilled with this win. We played very well after losing badly in Mumbai. All the boys came up with good performances except for the top order batting of ours. We can be hppy with this performance and we hope we repeat this in Kolkatta.
Shastri: Who do you think has been the man behind this win?
Inzamam: Everyone!! Particularly Youhana for his brilliant 73 and 161 in the match. But everyone contributed to this win!!
Shastri: Thanks Inzamam! Now for the Man of the Match. Well this match has seen some great performances from many. It is really difficult to adjudge this award. But this award goes to the person who played two brilliant innings of 73 and 161 to lead Pakistan to this win - Yousus Youhana.
