India Team Discussion

I see that Manish Pandey is getting into some hot form in ODI's, with his unbeaten run for India-B in the Quadrangular series which also features Australia-A. Its surely going to hot up the race for the middle order spot for the World Cup. However I would still caution against picking him because I read an interview of his yesterday (this interview was done few days back when he was in the middle of this dream run in the Quadrangular) and he was giving excuses about why he could not do well in the IPL and one excuse he gave was "I came in to bat very late and I did not have enough time to get going".

Well that's a very serious red flag in today's times and more so for the World Cup. With India having a jam packed top order, there is no chance Manish Pandey can get a spot there. He has to bat at No. 4, 5 or 6. And most of the times, that would mean he comes to bat when India have to go hammer tongs at the bowlers. And if he does not have the ability to force the pace and effortlessly shift gears, then he does not have the ability to be in India's ODI plans until a top order spot frees up for him.

Don't understand the fact that Shami aais always ignored from the ODI setup. He could still be the fastest Indian to 100 ODI Wickets!

What more does Agarwal has to do ? Could have rested Dhawan or Rohit and included Agarwal.

But happy to see Pandey and Rayudu in the team. Hope they make it count.

I am suprised that Mohammed Siraj is being ignored despite having decent run for the A teamin England as well as in quadrangular series plus for my liking he is more of a hit the deck bowler which suits the longer formats more than the t20s where he was nothing but average in the IPL and T20Is he has played so far.

Our test side already has the pace attack in place. Kumar/Ishant, followed by Shami, Yadav and Bumrah. The only spot where I see a replacement is Yadav and that will be highly unfair on him because he is a 'made for test cricket' bowler. And our LOI specialist Bumrah has made it impossible to drop him from tests (fortunate for himself; I still dont think he is as cut out for tests)

Siraj will get his chance if he continues his good show.

Murali Vijay scores a century in the second innings, to win the game for Essex. He scored a 56 in the first innings. Good that he has taken his drop to heart and is trying to rebuild himself. Will need a lot lot more of this to force his way back into the national side. With Dhawan being a flop and Rahul just trying to establish himself, the door should still be half open for Vijay.

Whatever happened to one of India's fastest bowlers - Varun Aaron? Seems to have fallen out of the radar.

TIL that Virat Kohli has bowled over 100 overs in ODIs . Quite staggering I would say. When did he bowl that many?

He used to bowl a lot under dhoni, iirc he once bowled 6/8 overs in a match.

Vjay among runs steadily for Essex but I think Agarwals 90 today at Baroda vs touring westindies might help MAYANK get the nod for Rajkot test.

I wish BCCI announce indian test team without further delay.
