India Team Discussion

Practice/Exposure to play more domestic games ?
The type of game, whether domestic or International, is irrelevant. Practice/exposure should always be welcomed. Getting selected in the team is an entirely different thing and should not be a deterrent to getting quality time on the field.

I think this is now proof that it was Raj who was the problem. Boasting about her two half centuries and player of the match awards were a strong hint but the two best batters we have now urging Powar to be kept on board is proof enough.

It's not a proof. Maybe they really like him and not Raj and supporting because of their connection with him, not because he is right! Think about it

It can be either way. A proper investigation should be done by BCCI before accusing Raj or Powar

I am not sure which side to pick on this one.

It is true that Raj was not suitable for the T20 format and she might have been in the setup purely because of being a premier ODI batter. Run a ball fifties just dont work in T20s anymore. The fact that Kaur and Mandhana have come out in support of Powar is interesting. It does show Powar in much better light than Raj

Have to say very surprised with Kohli's thoughts in this interview.

Very diplomatic. It's almost as if he senses that he needs to be more responsible/mature in his approach.

Feel this story has to come out. If I was Shastri, I would step down and let a fair process elect a new coach. If Kohli is uncomfortable he should sit out, captain should not decide who the coach will be. His comfortableness should be a factor but that should not be the only factor to consider someone to coach as big as Indian team. Also what made Kohli uncomfotable?

I have no respect for this guy as a captain and somewhere in my heart, I don`t quite feel the connection with this Indian team anymore. These set of players and team management feels they are above the game. Had it been someone like Shastri in Kumble's shoes, you would have witnessed ugly scenes. Kudos to the man for handling such humiliation with grace.

Getting drubbed by England has that affect :p

Replace our tests openers with any 2 random person from the country, they can't do worse than these 2

Just came across the squad that is being selected for the NZ tour and found that Dhoni is being included for the T20I squad. So basically we aren't going to prepare for 2020 WT20 before 2019 WC ? If that is the case and if Dhoni retires post 2019 WC and with just 3 T20Is to be played between 2019 WC and 2020 WT20 then how will we know who is going to be there in the squad ? We are risking a World Title if that is the case then. I know T20Is aren't that important but to win a World event is always something special irrespective of the format you play. Not right to play Dhoni in NZ T20Is

Edit: I heard Harsha Bhogle saying that Dhoni is in the squad just to give him more match practice before the WC, so somewhere I feel that it's also a bit of advantage. Who knows BCCI might increase the number of matches before the WT20 ? So maybe we shouldn't think too far ahead and be in the present, at present WC is more important :yes

I know its early days, but it somehow feels like India's test batting puzzle is really falling into place here. Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw are making a huge case for themselves to open together for India in test cricket. KL Rahul being the fighter he is, wont stop competing for the opener's spot and so expect him to give Shaw-Agarwal more than a run for their money. Then you have Pujara, Kohli and Rahane - the stalwarts of India's test batting. Then you have Hanuma Vihari, whose solid technique with the bat has already grabbed eyes.

Somehow if Nair can be brought back to compete with Vihari for his spot, and Rohit also competing for that middle order spot, and also if India find a more solid wicketkeeper bat than Rishabh Pant (KS Bharat?) for test cricket, India will have great backup options for every batting spot.

Openers: Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul
Middle Order: Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Karun Nair, Rohit Sharma
Wicketkeeper: Wriddhiman Saha, Rishabh Pant, KS Bharat??
