India Team Discussion

I mean even Ashwin fking averages more than Rohit after 14 tests. What is this obsession these people in the coaching side have with Rohit, I do not know.

Maybe the management is very impressed with his limited overs skills and so wants him badly to be a part of the test team. But that doesn't make much sense though.

Shikhar Dhawan to lead India A squad against Bangladesh A | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo

Jadeja back in the reckoning for Tests ? (would still be a better option than Bhajji for the third spinner slot). Surprised that he is not in the One Day squad. Hoping that Rishi Dhawan get put up a few more good performances like he always does

Three-day squad Shikhar Dhawan (capt), Abhinav Mukund, Karun Nair, Shreyas Iyer, Baba Aparajith, Naman Ojha, Jayant Yadav, Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Gopal, Abhimanyu Mithun, Varun Aaron, Ishwar Pandey, Sheldon Jackson

One-day squad: Unmukt Chand (capt), Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey, Suresh Raina, Kedar Jadhav, Sanju Samson, Karun Nair, Kuldeep Yadav, Jayant Yadav, Karn Sharma, Rishi Dhawan, S Aravind, Dhawal Kulkarni, Rush Kalaria, Gurkeerat Singh Mann

Would be looking forward on how Rishi Dhawan would perform. If he do perform well,he should be given a chance ahead of Stuart Binny.Suresh Raina would be someone to look out for as well, especially about how he would use the valuable mentoring he would receive from Dravid.

He has actually been putting up really good performances with India A and in Ranji for a long time now. Somehow gets overlooked every time in favor of Bunny

The most interesting part is Rishi Dhawan was the 5th highest wicket getter in the last Ranji trophy season and he hasn't been named in the three-day squad. I feel we need a fast bowling all-rounder in out test line-up as soon as possible and he can be that bowling all-rounder.

^Haha.

BTW did u (or indeed anyone here) follow IPTL last year. What did you think? I personally thought it was good fun. Something that walked the fine line between exhibition and competition but not 'real' competition, really well.

I think the fact that this management is talking RS up, instead of keeping him grounded is exactly the reason why the retention of this particular support staff is so depressing. There is a difference in supporting a cricketer, giving him confidence, security and actually just publicly hyping his talent. This entire talk of 'aggressive' brand of cricket is getting very boring to be honest. If you really want someone aggressive, dedicated and committed to the cause of the squad, then Suresh Raina is a much better bet than Rohit Sharma. I know he has his weaknesses, but does Rohit Sharma not? Raina can bowl, actually catch and it always seems like he puts in an effort. For me, he can be much better than a 'Yuvraj Singh' style cricketer who himself didn't justify his talent in tests. You just compare the number of VITAL, under pressure knocks Raina has played and count the number Rohit Sharma has played. The DIFFERENCE is chalk and cheese. Raina has bottle when he plays big games, pressure situations. Rohit Sharma? Only talent.

Just to update in the first ODI of India A vs B'desh A, Rishi Dhawan has so far put in a fine all-round show. Coming into bat at no.8 he scored a blistering 56* off 34 balls. With the ball he has picked up 42/2, to leave B'desh in trouble at 170/5 chasing 323 from 50 overs.

The other three wickets were taken by S Aravind.

Actually the performance of the game turned up after I posted the previous post. Gurkeerat Singh, who had scored a 50 in the India innings, picked up the remaining 5 wickets to help India A to an easy win.
