Krishnaswamy: India need to rethink jaded T20 template | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo
Some really good points has been in this article. The brand of cricket that India needs to play in T20 especially on surfaces like the one we had yesterday. The players we need in this format who can make the best use of 20 overs. As much as I like Rahane, I have to agree that his inning yesterday was one of the reason why we didn't post a big score. HOWEVER, it's not his fault because this is the strategy that our team management came up with and he was the perfect guy to execute that. Also he did his job to perfection but it was the "Strategy" that was always wrong. Even though Rohit can be very dangerous once he gets going, it is the same with him. He takes too much time to get settled. He plays too many dot balls upfront to get settled, to see how pitch is behaving. As I said, he is as good as anyone once he gets settled but he is taking a bit too much time to get settled which also hurts India.
I don't have any problem with Kohli because even though he is not as strong as likes of Gayle and Russel, he can still score quickly because he rarely plays a dot ball. Runs extremly hard between wickets and puts pressure on fielders. I can say the same about Dhoni.
Another concern is Yuvraj and Raina's spot in this WC. Even though Yuvraj did play a couple of useful cameos, he has struggled. He hasn't looked even a half of the player that he was. I really think it's time to move on from Yuvraj and I am pretty sure we have seen last of Yuvraj in the Indian jersey. Raina is another person who has been a big problem for India for a while now. His poor form is hurting India a lot. We have invested a lot of time in Raina but if he isn't firing when India needs him the most, it's difficult to see him in the team. Especially now that Manish Pandey has come in.
