Too early for this. You cannot be sure that Rohit will still be playing at his best or good cricket in 2023. Also Rayudu is still retired. He will only ipl and domestic cricket.

Rayudu will be Back

He shouldn't be playing for India now after the comment he made towards the selectors. And he is already 34 now. So no point in bringing him back. I don't think he would want to comeback either after he was shown the way out of the team just before the WC.

Ok

This is seriously an issue. Now there was a question who should be India's no.6. At that time people were like Rohit/Vihari. And now when Vihari finds his place people want Rohit to open. Is it a joke or something ? Now it's pretty clear that we aren't going anywhere with Rohit Sharma in the Test team. It's just crystal clear. And now you force him in a role which could affect his confidence as a One-day batsman would be as good as a blunder there. Isn't the example of Aaron Finch, Jason Roy, Martin Guptill and Fakhar Zaman enough for Rohit not to be opening ?

I am seriously astounded by this. I don't even feel like it can do any good. Don't know what's wrong with Sourav Ganguly ?

Suggests Rohit to open in Tests :lol:facepalm

Well this is not the first time Ganguly has made a statement like this. He recently made a statement about how India need to have the same players playing in all three formats of the game when England just won the WC by playing specialist limited overs players.

In my opinion, I don't think Rohit can survive opening in test cricket just because he struggled against moving ball. Even in limited overs format where he has been so good at opening, he has struggled when bowl is doing a bit initially. I can understand people's frustration because if Rohit is in the squad it is so tempting to have him in the final 11 as well simply because he is that good. However, he has been given enough chances and hasn't done that great in them. Even though he did the same thing in limited overs untill when MS Dhoni sent him to open the inning and he hasn't looked back since then. I guess if they really want to try him at the opening spot, give him a go in the home series first just to see how he handles it. I know this is unfair on so many players because Rohit has already been given enough chances in test cricket but it's just that temptation with Rohit that will always be there as long as he in the squad. Prithvi Shaw has chosen a pathetic time to get banned otherwise I think he would have been definitely opening against South Africa in the upcoming series.

Well, Ganguly was the one who promoted Sehwag to open in tests and he thinks Rohit will achieve similar success if the same is done to him.

But the problem with Rohit is, he opened in ODI's because he needed time to get going and the main requirement was to score very quickly. But in tests, it is not about scoring quickly but it is about batting time. You're not batting overs anymore, you are batting time. And add to that Rohit's technique against the moving ball. In a test match, only a specialist opener should open. For all of Sehwag's success, it was mostly built on placid batting pitches and our focus right now should be on conquering overseas conditions.

I hope the likes of Abhimanyu Eashwaran and Priyank Panchal are brought as backups until Prithvi Shaw is ready to go

It is even more retarded when you remember that Sourav is the Cricket Association of Bengal’s President and Easwaran who has been piling runs in Ranji and with the A team is a Bengali too. :facepalm

It's about time we give new guys the chance to play for their country, so many consistent performers in the domestic circuit go unnoticed while we give free entry based on short-term IPL, a bowler who bowls max four overs a match gets picked and there's the guy giving his all bowling 50+ overs in a FC match.

Sanju Samson smashing South Africa A meanwhile ...

Can't believe we get to see Graham Bensinger interview Virat Kohli! One of the best interviewers in the world! Urge you guys to watch!

Sanju Samson smashing South Africa A meanwhile ...

One of the rare knocks from a player who miserably failed to live up to his potential. It is so frustrating from guy who used to be the best batsman in 2014 U-19 WC and was known to take over the past legends of Indian Cricket. Now is the perfect time that he delivers or he is done I guess. :spy
