Shakib played brilliantly even though the writing was on the wall. He was almost dictating terms while he was batting and I would say he got out on his own mistake. The knock was phenomenal.

Ashwin on the other hand never really looked like a spinner with 400+ wickets. I know he is much like Warne in terms of the fact that he gains confidence with increasing number of overs that he bowls but India cannot afford to have him bowl 25+ overs to get into his zone. Its good that we have attacking spinners in Axar and Kuldeep.

Lifeline for S.Gill. Rohit set to miss the 2nd Test as well if reports are to be believed.

It's official. Rohit is missing it. Gill is heaving a sigh of relief.

On another note, Kohli has a scored a T20I 100 and an ODI 100 in 2022 so far. If he can score a Test 100 (to complete the full cycle) in the next Test which KLR will be captaining again, I'll seriously consider campaigning for him :p

At this stage, Rohit should just retire from Test and T20 cricket. No WC for 2 years, he hardly plays Test cricket due to his injury. Should also retire from ODI post the WC.

He can not Afford to retire financially. He is good captain. You will not see him in Dhaka.

Bangladesh included Nasum their white ball spinner in test team, plus 10 century maker at Dhaka Mominul Haq
Also playing in playing xl.

K rahul will lead india

Plus his fitness has been super worrying in this modern era. I am no one to comment on someone's weight, but he seems to really have ballooned since the pandemic.

My journey with Indian Cricket and particularly Rohit Sharma has been full of ups and downs lol! When Rohit joined the Indian squad for T20 WC I think in 2007 and the CW Series win against Australia in Australia, I was super impressed with him. Post that he became someone who could easily get out the first ball. Dhoni saw that weakness and moved him to opening and he became a beast. His exploitations in ICC tournaments were amazing. With MI he really did well as well. I was rooting for Dravid-Rohit combo to do well but it just seems in order to find diamond, we lost the gold in Kohli-Shastri. I hate to admit but they are and were better. We had 1-2 problems here and there but now? We have a box of problem that nobody wants to do anything to fix it.

I feel Rohit as good as he has been has to retire from T20, Tests and captain the Indian side to 50 over World Cup and retire post that. The same goes for VK but he has to retire from T20 and ODI and keep Test Cricket going. None of them will be around in 2024 (36 and 37) for T20 WC (I really hope not) and (39,40) for 2027 WC.

With Virat's fitness, he has 2 more years in him max and I would love to see him become beast again in Tests. Rohit unfortunately after the captaincy has lost his way and form.
