India tour of South Africa - 2013/14

Bowled!! Another awkward dismissal for mighty Hash. He has fallen into the trap. After peppering him with the short stuff, Shami summons the length ball, it keeps low as well.
Amla out in both innings without offering a stroke.

It wasn't a length ball at all; it was well short and I don't blame Amla for ducking a ball pitched at that length. That was just awkward bounce which did him.

SUMMARY OF DAY 4

Its has been a riveting Test match, with each day surpassing the excitement of the previous one.
After the tea break, Ajinkya Rahane showcased his agility to catch Smith short of his crease by a bullet direct throw.
Then,Shami delivered a short of a length ball that shooted low to rattle Amla's stumps, thus making a mockery of the latter.

Alivo Petersen played a charming innings to keep South Africa in the hunt.
South Africa's fortunes, albeit slim, are still alive.

Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni share a few light moments.
Not often does one see MS Dhoni beam in broad grins. Ishant and the other bowlers warmdown on the field.

----------

Earlier in the day :-
Cheteshwar Pujara registered his fourth 150+ score to fatten India's lead.
Even as wickets fell at the other end, Zaheer's devil may care strokeplay saw India strengthen their position.
The upshot was that India finished with a hefty lead of 457.

My gut feeling says that South Africa will win this..

India are inching towards glory at the Wanderers. For the hosts, much will hinge upon Alviro Petersen. In fact, their batsmen will have to perform in unison if they are to even salvage a stalemate.

A cracker of result awaits us tomorrow with Proteas having 8 wickets in hand and requiring to score at a 3.55 Rpo. That will require some guts to score in a Test match, particularly on a fifth day pitch.

I think you're on wrong site. This isn't Cricinfo commentary box.

Sorry if I sound a little too rude but this discussion board is`nt about reporting of scores but more about contributing to the discussion with your own opinions. Please refrain from banal reporting of scores. As someone pointed out, people posting here already know the scores and what happened. If they did not know, they would visit cricinfo.

Pleased with the two wickets. Had a laugh watching MSD bowl as well. He's really not that bad tbh, I would say he's about as good as Ganguly was (and he was pretty handy).

I wonder if it will wicketkeepers who can bowl will be a more common thing in the future. Back in the day it WK's didn't even have to bat to warrant a place in the side, then it became a bonus, and now it is almost a requirement. I can see it happening slowly with bowling as well over the next 20 years.

I would have hoped for one more wicket by close of play today, but I am definitely taking this score from an Indian perspective. Also the wicket of Amla gives me encouragement that batting might not be all that easy tomorrow. Also another fact is that the morning sessions of this test have been a bowler's heaven. A bagful of wickets always fall in the first session of each day. So I am still optimistic that tomorrow morning, India can come in and inch faster towards victory.

But I felt it was very lacklustre and a show of disrespect to the form of cricket they were playing, when both Dhoni and Kohli kept wickets without a pad. With both these guys being top draw international players in the world, should they be taking such risks like keeping without pads? What if someone puts a throw in and either of these two get hit on their legs to the extent that they have to miss a test? It was very possible, and losing either one of these for Durban would have been disastrous. Absolutely hated it!!!:mad

Not sure what's crazier, both wicketkeepers bowling in a match or Faf du Plessis coming in at 4 with kallis, de villiers and duminy in the middle order.

Shouldn't be tough for Saffers to battle out a draw, but I don't really think they're winning this. The way the pitch has been behaving would have already rung alarms in their batsman's mind. If India is to win this, Ashwin needs to make a contribution today.

haha, after a certain point you just begin to trust the players. They know what they are doing. I enjoyed watching it :p

Pitch seems to have lost a bit of sting, and with Ashwin being a bit of a non-event overseas South Africa should just about be able to hang on for a draw here.

Nobody expected India to perform so well in this Test match. One must say that they have mentally won this match and a lot of hearts too with this fantastic display. Does not matter if India wins or loses, they have more than exceeded our expectations!
