India Tour of Zimbabwe ODI Series - August 2022

Would've really liked to see Craig Ervine, Tendai Chatara & Blessing Muzarabani be a part of this series.

Good to see Shahbaz get a call-up. Although, I feel it's a litlle too early for him but he's got potential!

List A has been his weakest format but 27 feels like the right time to get him in. He is an absolute big-match player and the type who can win you games as the impact player. Think he is a much better batter than he is given credit for too.

He feels like the closest we have to a like for like to Sundar.

He really strikes the ball cleanly when on song and has maturity to pick the right deliveries to hit them. He is pretty much what India lacked in their T20 side for ages. Not too sure why would he get a chance in ODIs. Maybe because it's Zimbabwe?

It's the perfect time. This guy is a genuine match winner.
I didn't say he doesn't deserve to play for India.

This is what I like about ODIs in Zimbabwe. That early swing!!

Something that's not been the case thus far is that KL Rahul is attacking and looking for wickets early in the innings. That extra slip fielder is an indication of it.

Tail woes again. Not surprising.....

Perhaps one should start thinking how India should improve their batting when it comes to their tail?
Both - our tail to wag and the opposition's to fail. Surely it should not be such a big ask in country that worships cricket as a sport?

Worshipping something is different than being actually good at it. We Indians tend to stick to something that we are half good at and be satisfied with it all our lives because we don't look past it? On the other side people like you and me continually keep on complaining about what we aren't good at by comparing ourselves only with things others are good at. Tell you what, our tail have improved significantly over the course of last 20 months. :)

Nothing much to glean from this result. Dhawan’s rather pedestrian style of batting when he used to be quicker feels like a potential concern but I’m not sure if he will be in the first XI when the WC comes up. Gill looks too good to not be played!

It's been such a poor series this! Really hope that this match have something to offer. I would even take an Indian loss today.

Also I don't know why should we switch back to Opening with KLR in ODIs when we seemed to have moved ahead from it already. Shubman Gill have performed so well and he really shouldn't have been moved from there.

Maybe they want to fit Gill at 3 to drop Virat :grinning:

Awful performance from our openers. I’ll chalk Rahul’s batting down to rustiness but Dhawan has been doing this for quite some time now. With Rohit batting more and more like a contemporary ODI opener instead of his NoHit-BroHit line sedative starts Dhawan isn’t needed in this lineup to be his ’unlocker’ anymore. Rahul also should stay the hell away from an opening slot in ODIs, it is clear that he needs pressure or a match situation to play aggressively besides instructions and it is easy to settle into a bubble in ODIs where you believe you will make up the runs later on.
