India v England 2008

A soporific day to say the least. India polished the England tail off quickly but their batsmen struggled to get the scoreboard ticking, until Yuvraj Singh came to the crease. The odd ball has kept low while the spinners have got good purchase from the rough. If the start is delayed tomorrow, it looks unlikely that India will bat any longer and it will be interesting to see England's approach.

India would like to set at least 350.That dpends how fast they do,or if wickets tumble they might bat for long time, also there are two factors:bad light & fog

I bet there are some members here, who watched to the television screen for hours just for the fog to disappear.

England to win this match, Bell to get a 150 in a frenzied rampage. Also Pietersen will hit the pie chucker in the face then get hit in the ribs and retire injured.

LOL !Post of the Year.

man the fog is really damn thick can't even see the pitch.

This match will be a draw, unless England collapse. This is not really a 'wearing fifth day pitch' because there has only been about 290 overs of play. It's more like a Day 3/4 pitch. We're only averaging 70-odd overs a day.

Poor batting from India yesterday. We should have taken the initiative. Sometimes I wonder if Dhoni's decisions get lost in the senior players. I've been reading John Wright's book about his time as Indian coach, and it seems like there's definitely a chain of command based around seniority. That may have changed with Dhoni as captain and Kirsten as coach, but it may be that the senior batsmen just prefer to go for the draw. Meh.

It is ridiculous to have a 40 minute lunch-break after a 60 minute session. The ICC truly have their heads stuck far up their butt. They should give the match referee and common sense prevalence in situations like this and the debate of using lights. If there are lights in the stadium, they should be unconditionally used if there are overs left to bowl in the day and time remaining. If play starts 2 hours after schedule, players should not be given a full lunch break. Freaking ridiculous rules.

Its better for Dhoni and Pietersen to shake hands and call it a day... Anyways, Pietersen is happy with a draw, which will give India the series win. No one will call it a negative thing for India/Dhoni if they win it 1-0 because we have played pretty well this series.

That 'pie chucker' and 'filth' comment was nonsense... Didnt expect this from Pietersen! Anyways, Yuvraj rightly said 'if he is getting out so many times to pie chuckers, he must be one himself.

Fantastic knock by Yuvi,he is a class player,Gambhir has also played well, though he has batted slowly,he was there standing tall when wickets were falling at the other end.India lead by 310 runs with 6 wickets remaining, and main overs left for today's play:61.So when will India declare?

India would like to get at least 350-370,then depending on overs left they might declare

Here we go with the farcical 40-minute lunch break. The players must be really tired after playing for one hour. In fact, they should just take the rest of the game off.

Gambhir & Yuvi both in 80's,they have increased the run rate :Last 10 ovs 76/0 RR 7.60
Min overs remaining 54.0...Will India declare at 400?

Couldn't they have lunch during the 2 hours break at the start of the match?

In the last overs India scored a lot of runs. I am expecting a declaration during lunch, otherwhile this is really defensive cricket.

Both are batting like T20,its a 5th day track,so runs wont be easy to come, but these two are playing very well...India might declare when both batsman reach to their 100

This has been a real happening session of cricket, although a short one but nothing short of action at all. Yuvraj and Gambhir started positively today knocking it around right from the word go and runs started coming freely since then. The Indians have already accumulated an unassailable lead, it will now be interesting to see Mahendra Singh Dhoni's ploy. There's no way that the Englishmen can chase it down, the Indians should declare at lunch and have a crack at the opposition. Hopefully another exciting session is coming our way.
