India v England 2008

Clinical performance from India.. superb knock from Yuvi. important thing will be keeping up this momentum up and not getiing complacent cause Engalnd will come hard at India in the next match.

There isn't another side in the world that would have been able to beat this Indian side today, they were awesome. Yuvi was superb. England put up a fight at least, they didn't just give up, kept putting up fight in the field, and never gave up with the bat. Will just be interesting to see how well England bounce back in the series. They need to bounce back quickly if they're going to have a chance in the series. We've been improving in ODi cricket, beating Sri Lanka away, India at home, Australia away, and South Africa at home, and we can't afford to throw it away by getting thrashed here.

Still don't understand what Yusuf is doing there. He's useless and will always be useless.

I think better bowling would have made a difference, sure India were good but I must say that England's attack looks pretty average at the moment. Your batting lineup was never awe inspiring, but you do have good first class players down to number 8, so one would expect something a bit better.

India won by a big margin, good performance by Yuvi,Sehwag,Gambhir,Raina,Zaheer, and a flop show by Y Pathan in batting as well as bowling.

Now is this a crushing defeat or what?

India 387/5 (50 ov)
England 229 (37.4 ov)

India won by 158 runs

Bad thing is that Yuvraj Singh might miss some matches after his back injury.

So 1 game where we get spanked around means we've got a poor bowling line-up? This may sound incredibly biased, but I don't honestly believe there's a better all-round bowling line-up in the world. We've got the best pace attack in World Cricket in ODi's. Anderson, Broad, Harmison and Flintoff is an immense team. Patel is also a capable spinner, his average was 18 from 7 games before today, with a 5fer to his name. Then we've got other bowling options from Colly, Bopara, Pietersen and Shah. Who's got a better all-round bowling attack at the minute?

Bhajji > Piyush. Bhajji has more than deserved his place after bowling brilliantly in the Test Series. Piyush isn't even in the squad anyway.

Damn come to look at it, Our line up looks pretty weak. I mean no Sachin, No Ishant. Those two were big in the Test's.

There is no way one can drop Bhajji now. He can be picked just for his aggression. And he has been in great form now.

A) Because everyone is fed up with the BCCI

and

B) Because people are annoyed at the way all these young Indian members have turned up in the Cricket Discussion forum and bombarded us with their stupid, immature, incredibly bias views.

You guys are clearly flustered that these Indian members are opening up with their own views (which could or could not be bias), when till now its been the Aussie and the English members who have pretty much dominated the forum with their own biased views.

He never labelled anyone, he just said he didn't like India because of all the n00bs from India. No problem with that. As for not liking the BCCI, I don't think Indians like them.

Anyway carry on lads, good to get a bit of spice in the series. But you curry munchers would like a bit of spice. (JOKES :D)

No need for those brackets. Because those who take it offensively wont give a damn to those bracketed words.

you guys will definitely like that bit of spice too. dont say that you dont like the fun of having to passionately argue on behalf of your side over the other side.

I honestly believe we've got a better ODI side, with Sachin out injured for the first 3 anyway. India's batting doesn't look strong enough for me, outside Sehwag and Gambhir India could struggle, apart from Dhoni of course. If England can target Dhoni and get him out cheaply, like they did to Kallis or even McCullum in England, then it'll just be a matter of dismissing the 2 openers and it should be Englands game. I think the first change bowlers of Harmison and Flintoff are unmatched around the world. I can't see Sharma or Raina hitting either of those 2 around.

The main feature of India's play will be the spin. England have famously struggled against spin, but we do now have a couple of good quality players of spin. Shah is very good, Bell, Pietersen and Bopara are all very good as well, not sure Bopara will play though tbh. If Harbhajan and the other spinner (Mishra?) bowl well, then England will struggle. Chawla had quite an impact in England, had Pietersen in trouble with his googly, so I'm surprised he isn't in the squad.

Certainly going to be a great series, just wish there were more tests tbh.

Well, YUVRAJ IS BACK!!! I honestly think we have a better side and a side thats so much in form. The only time you guys might have a good chance against us is in a tri-series final, but this is sadly a bilateral series.

Are you sure it's not in a sexual way? :P

Also Yuvraj is going to get destroyed. This picture explains it all.

And thats the best comment that I am reading after Yuvraj's innings today of 138. Bunny??? England dont have Ajantha Mendis, heck, no one even close to that kind of a freak.

saisrini80 added 2 Minutes and 13 Seconds later...

Yuvraj is going to get owned. Coming off a terrible challenger series (only single figures), and a duck and 38 against Delhi. Come on Harmy, knock him over.

Aare Rohit, kya keh diya yaar tumne? (What have you said, Rohit?)

YUVRAJ THE DASHER!!!! I am genuinely worried for England now. If Yuvraj continues like this, England could be in for a real thrashing.

I am interested WC. As an Aussie fan but an Indian, who are you supporting?

He hates Indian team.

England getting hammered in ODIs? Surprise surprise. What's new?

I thought they might have been on the up since Pietersen took the captaincy. Obviously not.

Well done to India.

England are one of those sides where if the score gets much above 300 they're out of it.

I think any side that plays India in India is up for a very very tough time. We had a small period where our home record started going down a bit. But WE'RE BACK!!! And our overseas record has shown an upward rise since Saurav DADA Ganguly took over captaincy and it has constantly remained the same way (though we need to win more series abroad now).

WHAT??? OMG???? Really??? Did he get this injury during this game? NO!!!

I want him to get the Man of the series award for this series.

I didn't follow the match; I only saw the result. From what I've read he was struggling with his back, so in case not to worsen his injury it's better to rest him.

I hope not! Hope he recovers soon. But I guess we have the players to slot in. Its Raina's turn next match to get a hundred. This guy has been in splendid form in ODI's

It just gives a chance to another player, like Virat Kohli. Beside Yusuf Pathan might be placed higher in the order then. And he can do much better, then he has shown today.

And England is keeping their themselves calm, despite all the trashings. Before they know it they've lost the series already.

If I was the Australian's I wouldn't be getting too smug, England have a far better bowling attack and we got spanked, imagine how well Lee, Johnson, Krejza, Clark and Watson would have gone, now that would have been a world record on this track :p.
I dunno about that, considering how Zaheer Khan got his wickets. Not much movement, just used the angle and pushed it across the batsman, even the lbw! It was a very Mitchell Johnson way to get an lbw. Ryan Sidebottom, get well soon!

There's not much England can do, apart from hope. Winning the toss can mean an awful lot, but they'd probably like more from the pitch all the same.

I'd still want Swann in the team, in fact even more so after today, but while he ought to slot in at 8 or 9, it'd be hard to drop the specialist no. 8 for him after today, or the no. 7 for that matter and I'd prefer to see the England side that is loaded with bowlers than the England side that just has the minimum plus part timers. The tough call would be pulling Shah out of the side and letting Bopara have a crack at no. 3.

For Sidebottom to return, it'd have to be Anderson that makes way. Harmison has to stay because he fires in a good yorker and bouncer, so when he bowls well, he's effective against attacking batsmen. Broad and Anderson are probably neck and neck in terms of their ability to win a match with wickets, but it's Anderson's ability to have a really bad day that makes Broad a better ODI bowler at this point.

Yuvraj's batting made Eng bowlers look very ordinary,he has class, timing, his shots very really a treat to watch, off course these are flat tracks, but even scoring around 390 is difficult,300/320 is good score on these wickets, even they had mentioned avg score around 281,they made 100 more, anyway, looking forward for the next match.

The bowling just had bad day. The Indian batsmen were outstanding which doesn't help, Patel and Broad had never played in India before and Broad was probably rushed back because of our lack of seamers. Anderson, Flintoff and Harmison were te major players who cost us in the bowling because they were the ones with the experience, like I say it doesn't help when the Indians are doing so well but they should have done better.

As for our batting, same story as always. I can understand Prior being given a chance. Bell has to go. He will have one good knock about every ten innings which isn't good enough especially when that good knock isn't even a hundred. Everyone talks about all this talent but he doesn't score runs. That is the measure of how good you are. Shah I don't rate but can understand in the sub continent. Flintoff wasn't out. I say we push Bopara up and open with Shah leaving room for an extra bowler until we find a good enough opener.
