India v England 2008

I understand your point of view saying that Badri has worked ridiculously hard, But you can't drop a one day specialist like Yuvi, You simply can't. Badrinath over Yusuf maybe but its still an understandable decision f Yusuf ere to get picked ahead of him for ODI's.

Oh of course, because we all know Badri has failed tremendously at the level. Oh wait, how many chances has he been given?

Yuvi plays spin well. He only struggle against Lankan duo.

And Brad Hogg, but fortunately for him, he's out of the picture, it's Krejza now that he has to fear.

Thanks to Yuvi and Rohit Kreja was out for first 3 test matches

Hurray! :happy just saw this I'll' witness an International match after a long time :D

You need to buy ticket for that first. :p

Dadaji was on fire from what I read on commentary in scorecards.

And thanks to them, we treated him like a club cricketer and gave away needless wickets. Not before tonking him for plenty, I suppose though. :cheers

Despite be absolutely hammered I'm optimistic that we can bounce back. The batting bar the opening looked quite well but had no chance of getting 390 odd. Bowling was poor, Broad struggled but I feel that they'll come good next match, I hope. The next match shall be very important if India again then I can see our heads going down and terribly failing but If we can do well then I feel that we can perhaps push India to the last game.

England getting hammered in ODIs? Surprise surprise. What's new?

I thought they might have been on the up since Pietersen took the captaincy. Obviously not.

Well done to India.

England are one of those sides where if the score gets much above 300 they're out of it.

Well you didn't do well against the Indians did you.?

I am afraid with the grounds like these with short boundaries and belter of the pitches, Indian batsman will make merry in this series (though cricket is a funny game u never know).

England do have some big hitters in pieterson, flintoff, collingwood can play really good on these pitches, prior at the top should he get a good start, bell should mainly play sheet anchor role though he can play some great shots, samit patel has shown what he can do with the bat, broad can hit too, they really have good batting don't they:p

The only problem they have is they don't have a quality or a genuine spinner for these sort of pitches. With harmison, anderson, flintoff n broad they have too many same sort of bowlers which only feed to the batsmen on these flat tracks.

Ravi bopara at no 8 really don't have much to do so late in the innings.

This series is really about bowlers n at the moment india seems to have them for right occassions.

Again its a funny old game and making any predictions can only make you eat ur words, so sit back n enjoy the games and see the conclusion after the 7th game is over.
:cheers

I find it weird how people are questioning the whole team's potential based on one performance. We've had some fantastic ODI series results of late, South Africa, Sri Lanka Away, etc. We did really well vs South Africa in our last series. I'm not trying to paper over the poor performance in the 1st ODI, but a perspective should be taken. Also should be giving credit to a fantastic performance by India. Would be nice if we had some more cricket-friendly pitches, instead of roads all the time.

I am not following the English Cricket for quite a long time from now. Where are Strauss,Panesar,Vaughan? They have all toured to India before and they could have done well instead of a young team.

Well, both teams play on the same pitch. England are better suited to playing on seamer friendly pitches and when they come across pitches like this they tend to struggle.

I don't see how that is important. Incidentally he is correct that when a team scores over 300 we are more often than not out of it. We have more 'proper' batsman than most other nations. Players like Bell can play some stunning shots but generally our players cannot adapt their game efficiently to one-day batting. Bopara, Patel and Pietersen are some of the most exciting one day players that England have in this regard. They can hit sixes and use their power more prominently they are capable of working most balls for a single which is the most important thing in successful one-day batsmanship for me.
